Melissa McCarthy stars as a competitive baking contestant squaring off against a roster of quirky, offbeat characters.

Louie Anderson, Ben Falcone and Phil LaMarr also star in the upcoming film.

Directed by co-written by Cathryn Michon, who also stars in the film, Cook Off! shares a familiar style with writer-director Christopher Guest's send-ups of dog shows (2000's Best in Show) and folk music (2003's A Mighty Wind) with its mockumentary filmmaking style and cast of bizarre, charming characters.

Cook Off! opens nationwide on Nov. 17.
