How do Canadians get a hold of this ? Darn Target Canada had to close, was hoping they would have another retailer to go with as en exclusive if not Target.

I have 5 copies left from my trip across the border, selling at cost plus shipping (well packaged for protection, or local pickup if you're near me) to Canadian or international forum members. PM me if interested.

The packaging clearly says only for sale in the US, so for this release, they only intended it to be sold at Target in the US. Any non-US release, they'd have to do a new printing.

So I have never watched this show. Worth a blind buy? Also I don't have Netflix.

Has anyone compared this with Netflix 4K? Does the BD look better?

I am so sick of hearing this everywhere on this site. Some people are going to say yes and some are going to say no. It's never going to be a resounding yes or no. Watch it for yourself and make up your own mind. It's such a redundant question to ask.

Bought this today since I was on vacation last week and didn't want to spend all my money before heading on vacation. I watched it last year when I had a free trial of Netflix and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to season 2 as well.
Something tells me I'll be putting the Blu-rays in a Blu-ray case and putting the VHS case with my collectibles.
I've heard there's no special features on this which I think sucks but I've noticed many titles are getting fewer special features these days

If you're into suspense/horror/thriller and would enjoy the fact that it's set in the 1980s. Everything from the acting, atmosphere and music is all phenomenal! Think, sort of, Twin Peaks, but with better acting, and obviously, better effects because it's a newer show.

Yeah. Not the right comparison in any way, shape or form.

Lots of other comparisons have been mentioned in this thread and in reviews of the show.

More like Twin Peaks, but the plot is spoonfed to you(Before you hate, I do like Stranger Things. Simply pointing out that a comparison is ridiculous).

In reference to my Twin Peaks comparison, I just meant the creepy, mysterious atmosphere and weird sh!t going on felt comparable to Stranger Things, in my opinion. I also wasn't suggesting that Twin Peaks had bad acting, just that I found some of it little hokey and kind of over-acted. Laura's parents reacting to her death is one instance. Eye-patch lady comes off cheesy as hell, in my opinion, too. I absolutely love Twin Peaks, just saying, I felt Stranger Things comes off a little more serious. Maybe that's just Twin Peaks feeling a little dated to me, or something.

Is the VHS exclusive available in any Canadian stores? I was in Sunrise Records today but forgot about it, I have seen Target exclusives at Sunrise before.

I binge-watched the series over the last two days and I really liked a lot of it, but then other aspects just bored me. I think the
[Show spoiler]slower build-up in the earlier episodes works a lot better than the eventual pay-off in the upside down
, which I just didn't care about at all. Still, I liked it enough overall, and appreciated that they spent a good amount of time with some of the adult characters like the sheriff instead of just the kids.

I don't see any similarities at all to TWIN PEAKS except that there are some supernatural elements. But that would be like saying LOST IN SPACE (tv show) is similar to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, just because they both have sci-fi elements. Nope.

ST is much more like a mash-up of POLTERGEIST, E.T., THE GOONIES, and pretty much every other film or fad that went on in the 80's. If you were a kid in the 80's, this show is probably like nostalgia crack.
