Just an FYI, the meme about Saban claiming in the past that non conference champions should not be allowed in the playoff is BS. The Twitter meme takes his words badly out of context. His full statement actually made a case FOR Ohio St. making the playoff in 2016.

The Pac 12 isn't a good conference. It's definitely not better than the B1G. That's why. The other reason is OSU would have 3 wins against the top 16 and two against the top 10. USC has none. USC's best win are against Stanford twice. This is not hard man.

Far more unimpressive team. USC barely outscored their opponents by 100 points for the season. Ohio St. and Alabama each outscored their opponents by around 300 points. Strength of victory matters.

I get what you’re saying, but don’t you get tired of this garbage every year? Trying to justify who has better wins and losses based on human ranking systems which are affected by flawed preseason rankings and conference bias. It’s frustrating when every other college level has a structured and larger playoff system. I honestly enjoy watching the FCS playoffs a lot more.

No I don't get tired of it. This system is a billion times better than the BCS. If it were the BCS. We'd probably have UCF v. Bama or some nonsense like that. Now could they expand the playoffs? Sure but no I'm not tired of it.

Why would he be tired of it? His team is in the exclusive club of getting a pass to the final four practically every year, even if they get blown out a game or two. You're going to be hard pressed finding a Bama or Ohio St. fan not perfectly content with the corrupt invite system that benefits their big money programs that the elitist selection committee has a crush on.

Oh cmon. We are a consistently good team and you know that. Do I agree with it being just top 4? No. I think it should be 8. But to say Ohio Stateis a given is complete bs.

You're 100% right. SEC fans were very vocal about not wanting a playoff when they won 7 straight BCS championships. Now that we have just a 4-team playoff, we're seeing that the SEC may not be the powerhouse they thought they were. If there wasn't a playoff, OSU doesn't win the first one as it's Bama and Oregon in the BCS. This year more than ever we could use a larger playoff. The 4 likely playoff teams all have bad losses. Oklahoma lost at home to Iowa State, OSU was blown out by Iowa, #1 Clemson somehow lost to last place Syracuse, Georgia was blown out. Based on those losses, who's to say that UCF doesn't beat those teams?

I love college football, I think it has tons of amazing moments and a 16 team playoff would bring us many more. As it stands now, I usually stop watching once the regular season is over. I'm glad the elite players are starting to sit out the bowl games, I hope they fade into obscurity and we can get a real playoff someday.
