Well, it does look like the worst damage does extend to the artwork, in the center of the spine, even on the second copy. However it's minor compared to the first, which is why I said I'd definitely consider just quitting while I am ahead, as I could have gotten something worse than the first set. Plus, I did get a good price on it, even though I don't think that should excuse them shipping out clearly damaged goods.

Of course, the other folks here who are reporting sets with no such issue, even ones who purchased via BN. Go figure.
