Four wins and a draw out of five means that the Chelski game is a freebie, I wouldn't worry about that one.

True that. Then again, we played them well in our last match back in October in the League Cup, and that was amid our greatest struggle. So, there is always a silver lining.

Thankfully that period is now just a distant memory. Hopefully it stays that way.

Good win for your squad yesterday tob. I hope Arsenal ends up winning the EFL Cup. It won't be easy, as Chelsea, ManU and ManCity are still in play, but anything is possible. City barely survived yesterday. I guess more often than not that has been the story of their season.
I'm also rooting for you guys in Europa. Especially since we've bowed our so unceremoniously from that tournament.

Thanks gvortex7 but its a big step backwards if some Arsenal fans think that winning the League Cup is a successful season.
We are all so far behind City that there dominance could be the future for a long time, other teams might challenge them now and again but nothing will change with us until Wenger retires and not only has he another year on his contract my fear is he will stay on after that.

I know that winning the league is the most important thing for any team, but winning one or two other trophies can also have a positive effect for fans. Personally I'd be thrilled if someday soon Everton could win the Europa League for example. Or an FA cup once again. It's been way too long for that one.

And yes, I totally understand that in order for Arsenal to move to the next level Wenger has to retire.

I would snap your hands off for a league cup win. Heck, we had 50,000 Sunderland fans take over Covent Garden the night before Wembley. Goodness knows what it would be like if we had won the cup!

It was a weird atmosphere at the Everton match. It was like a graveyard in places even after the first goal. Is there bad feeling towards big Sam Gvortex? I know they weren’t thrilled with the appointment but I would have though recent results would change that. Glad you won by the way!

I'm not sure bud. I didn't really notice it that much. Then again, it would be somewhat understandable if fans are still a bit angry/disappointed at the moment. It's been a rough year thus far, not one anybody expected up to this point. I'm generally pleased with the job Sam has done so far though. He's definitely saying the right things in his media speeches/interviews, and he seems to be making the right moves as a manager. I like the fact that he's embracing our young players. I did say a few weeks back that we need to revitalize through a youth movement. They're going to be our future, so it's important that they start developing by getting the playing time.

He still needs to continue to work on our relative slow starts though. Our first half attacking and production is still not where it needs to be.

I would have been delighted if Sunderland won the cup at that time Steedeel but there is a difference between our two clubs and don't take that the wrong way.

Yeah, you have seen plenty silverware and we haven’t!

That’s why, after so many decades since our FA cup win in 1973, the fans have finally snapped. People outside the North East think it’s because we were relegated. It isn’t. You only have to look at our crowds last time we were in the Championship to see that. It’s because of the way we went down, without a fight and too many freeloading players.

I'm excited about this Walcott signing, especially since we desperately need some goal scoring and also a lot more creativity on offense. Hopefully these last two signings will pay off for us in the short term. Both Allardyce and Walcott seem excited about the move. We'll see if it translates into wins right away. We've had a dreadful last 30 days or so.

Walcott is a good signing for sure. By the way, good point for Everton Gvortex. Would have been a damaging defeat that. Might just turn things around for you.

Arsenal started like they were on a mission. Good result Tob.

Geoff, always going to be days like this as you know.

Ocean, decent draw for you that. I think you have just enough to keep you up, hopefully at the expense of Newcastle!

I don't know if I can consider getting a draw a good thing at this point, but I suppose it beats the hell out of a loss. We've been historically inept on offense this past 5 or 6 weeks. I haven't seen any team struggle this much creating scoring chances in the lower leagues, let alone the EPL. I certainly hope Allardyce has some sort of plan of turning this around. At this point we need to try to find any combination of players or formation in order to jump start this thing because with all the teams behind us slowly catching up to us, we'll find ourselves right back in a relegation battle in no time. This is very frustrating.

I just meant in the context of the game. A defeat would have been mentally shattering I imagine.

This thread's pretty much dead, but watching this League Cup final I just had to wonder whether there's ever been a team comprised of such a diving bunch of ****s as Arsenal? It's like they're playing on ice but the Winter Olympics just finished lads! Wilshere would've got a perfect 6 for that one against Fernandinho. **** me.

Then might I strongly suggest you pick Liverpool (after all, it does become boring only winning as well).

Haven’t checked in here before, as my avatar suggest I’m a die-hard Liverpool supporter. Decent season so far, although it’s far too close in the top 2-6 for my liking so it can still go any way. This thread definitely deserves activity, there’s hardly anythinf better in the world than EPL!

Are you a die hard supporter or a fan? A fan just loves them, a supporter pays their money through the turnstiles.

Aye Penton Man. Welcome back! Please don’t pick Liverpool as I hate them! . Man City are way better! They also have the best player in the league playing for them (De Bruyne)

(Sorry new poster)

They are no different to any other top team in the league. Pretty much the top six are all constantly diving.
