I’m going to save sooo much money by skipping catalog 4K animated movies. Just more money for me to throw away at Disneyland.

BD is already great. UHD will be worth picking up for HDR mostly.

What about audio? 7.1 mix? Perhaps better sound quality irrespective of mix?

This is FANTASTIC news, still I’m surprised Pixar is releasing a catalog title before a Disney title. Sounds like the Pixar crew is on top of the move to 4K.

I guess I should have anticipated this happening, I just bought the Zavvi Mondo steelbook Incredible’s release. It’s still a beauty...

Day one (my favorite animated movie).

Damm this is going to get expensive!, (once they fill all the Pixar backlog).

Surprising, but nice. I've somehow seen this movie a ton of times despite never owning it.

Actually, the Pixar movies should look pretty good in 4K. There is only so much detail in the traditional animated movies, but the digital movies will fair much better (IMO).

I bet they're testing on 32" monitors. Nobody can see 4k on a 32".

Makes sense since the sequel is coming this year.

I wouldn't hold your breath on say Ratatouille just yet.

This hasn't been mentioned yet and I'm not trying to 'Dash' hopes here , including me, but Disney is now in the business of nearfield audio mixes on their releases. Civil War, Cars 3, Coco, Thor Ragnorok to name just a few. Will they do that with catalog titles such as The Incredibles? The blu of The Incredibles still has one of thee most outstanding audio tracks ever. If they dumb it down for an Atmos 4K release, it will give me pause as to whether I'll purchase it. Eff Disney and their nearfield mixes.

Is nearfield the problem or is compressed dynamic range?

One doesn't automatically beget the other. If you are tweaking the farfield mix for the home then of course the opportunity arises for someone to wreck the dynamic range, but that won't happen just because it's nearfield. I've heard people say that even Disney's theatrical mixes are less than impressive at times, it really does seem to be some endemic problem with their sound mixing dept.
