I just bought this VHS from ebay:
![]() Dutch VHS with the first two episodes of Macross. I didn't even know of this tape's existence or that the defunct German label Japan Home Video had an office in the Netherlands. I'm anxious to find out what's on the VHS. It could have the: - the English Harmony Gold dub, but there's only a Tatsunoko logo on the cover - the German dub, because there's still German text on the packaging - a mysterious Dutch dub no one ever heard of - original Japanese I also found out today that UK label Kiseki Films released Dutch subtitled VHS tapes of the Toho English dub of DYRL and the Macross II English dub. Not sure if I want to go after those tapes too. ![]() ![]() |

Found out that their Honeybee Hutch and Kerokko Demetan tapes have the Dutch dub, so I'm positive that there's a Dutch dub on the tape. I'm planning on merging the Dutch dialogue with the music and effects track from the AnimEigo/Madman DVDs.
I've also acquired the DYRL tape now. ![]() |

Yeah, the AnimEigo and the Madman DVD have audio from high quality magnetic tapes that were provided by Big West. The ADV DVDs have audio from a lower quality optical source.

I had the Kiseki VHS tapes of Clash of the Bionoids and Macross II - from memory Macross II was spread over three tapes. The Clash of the Bionoids was the crappy English-dub. I'd already got DYRL at that point so Clash was very much not worth it, beyond the novelty value of the English track which was that bad you'd probably never want to hear it again anyway.

I finally watched the entire dub. Geez, that dub is bad.
Got a good laugh when Roy got killed. Hikaru yells "Sempai!" in the original version, but in the dub he yells "Minmay!" for some reason. Such a great friend that Hikaru ![]() lol @ the names: ![]() Yippee-ki-yay Mr. Falker ![]() ![]() |

Two versions of the same dub from memory, ie a dub of DYRL, and then an edited down version of the same dub for CLASH.
Macek wanted to dub it when they were looking at doing a Robotech movie, but they ended up with MEGAZONE instead. |
