Following suit on yesterday's news that the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Invisible Man sets were finally coming to Blu-ray, Universal is also issuing a massive Classic Monsters: 30 Film Collection on the same date, August 28th!

Nice! I'm glad I didn't pick up any of the legacy sets yet. I'll definitely go for this one.

Now THIS is the one we’ve been waiting for. Not sure about others, but having 3+ discs of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein never really appealed to me.

What's interesting is Universal lists the set as being 24 discs. Unless I did this wrong, I believe that's the same amount of discs as the individual legacy sets, plus Phantom of the Opera

Dracula Legacy - 4 Discs
Frankenstein Legacy - 5 Discs
Invisible Man Legacy - 4 Discs
Mummy Legacy - 4 Discs
Wolf Man Legacy - 4 Discs

It would be pretty dumb for Universal to include multiple copies of A&C Meet Frankensteiin in the set, so I must have overlooked something.

That’s exactly what they did for the DVD set. Multiple discs. Several are identical.

Depending upon the packaging, I might just get this as I didn't pick up the individual Legacy sets. Agreed that it's dumb to include multiples of the same disc.

Not really. Like the DVD mega set, it will probably just be a nice cardboard box housing the existing individual sets. Cheaper on them to go this route with duplicate disks then to come up with completely new packaging and a special run of disks with new counts.

Considering how cheap the individual releases have been, I can't believe the number of people that may have waited all this time to just to get a box, because if they have been expecting no duplicates they will likely be disappointed.

I dont see any reason why this box set will be any different than the 2014 DVD box set. That housed the individual DVD sets, duplicates and all, and this set will likely be the same. For anyone who's bought the individual Legacy BD sets thus far this new box set will offer nothing new aside from the Creature and Invisible Man sets and '43 Phantom all of which are or will be available individually anyways.
