Consecutive Sony HDTV Price Drops?

i was just re-checking the ship status of the latest models of SONY's SXRD Rear Projections (namely the A3000) and noticed another huge price drop before they've even been released? It started out at 3500. Then a month or two later went to 3000 and low and behold its now at 2700? It releases at the end of this month. This is the tv that I want (over an XBR2 which I just got today and will probably be reselling brand new for the A3000) ...due to its HDMI 1.3 and 120hz frame rate. But I'm wondering why these price drops? And they're only selling a whole whoppin $100 above the current A2020 models? Whats the deal? Regardless...and no matter how exciting, I'll be waiting for c-net and Consumer Reports reviews before i take the leap...
