Default I'm a Blu-ray supporter, but I don't see HD DVD completely dying soon

I own a few blu-ray movies, and a PS3 as my player. I wouldn't call myself a huge sony fan, but a general supporter of blu-ray's technology. What limits me from starting a bigger collection of movies is the lack of the dying breed called "HD-DVD". Although Blu-ray is winning the numbers game, HD-DVD is ressurrecting itself from it's coma-state.

Other than the 1.1 November Mandate, what are the other tactics Sony and other follower's to blu-ray? A good mid-grade 1080p player appears to be around the $299 (and soon falling) by toshiba?

Then, there are titles like Batman Begins, where it's been out almost a year on hd-dvd. Yet, it does not exist on the BD radar (is this due to the lack of 1.1 mandate present?).

If Blu-ray lowered their priced, and after the november mandate, I don't see how HD-DVD can survive
