I printed out rtings settings for the NU8000, which I am going to use to plug in some values for the Expert Settings section of the menu, but until then, I have a question regarding the connection of my current Oppo BDP-83 BD player to the Samsung...

This player was previously connected (via an Onkyo AVR, which it still is connected through) to a Sony SXRD rear projection display, and I was keeping the HDMI Resolution Output set to AUTO, which always sent the correct 1080p signal to the TV (the max resolution accepted by the Sony). Now that I have the player connected to a 4K TV, should the resolution output be left at AUTO? If so, how would the player negotiate the HDMI handshake to tell the TV the max incoming signal is going to be 1080p?

Should I leave the Oppo set to 1080p discrete output being that it's now connected to a 4K display?
