Also, wanted to add:

ZAAT, which has so much DNR it makes the Carrier look like a Robert A. Harris restoration...
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...923&position=4

…sold for as little as $6.92 for over 5 years, but now commands $140-$200
https://camelcamelcamel.com/Zaat-Blu...context=search

Diabolik did sell out of the Carrier, so now the only place you can get THE CARRIER is at DARK FORCE and resellers. If DARK FORCE were to cut off the flow of the product or jack up the price, yes the reseller prices would skyrocket just like they did for ZAAT. Scarcity is what drives prices up, not blowout sales or whether or not the transfer had DNR.

At this time, DF looks like they are trying to sell through copies, but the point is DF essentially has the main control of how much the product sells for now based upon how they choose to sell the product. They could either sell faster at a lower price point to move inventory, or slower at higher price point and make more per copy. Its up to them.

So if you want the best cut of the movie with the best ending - that does not end like a Lifetime TV movie as the theatrical cut does - $17.99 shipped is definitely a good value for THE CARRIER Directors Cut on Blu-ray from DF. Yeah the directors cut has some DNR but the DVD is terrible PQ at the wrong aspect ratio, the directors cut is a superior cut of the movie, and even if the theatrical cut is re-released on Blu-ray someday the color & contrast at least in its current state is inferior to the Directors Cut.

Not about to quote the above book by Ruined but Zaat doesn’t “command” squat. Some fool was ASKING $300 in ebay for Bell, Brook and Candle a couple of days ago...will never sell unless he lowers to $20.

Look at auctions and what buyers ACTUALLY offer and pay to establish market value.

Ruined adheres to the DeFalco & Olsen School of Marketing. Rules:

“Oh, so no QC was done and we have a gimped release with atrocious PQ?!”
“Easy fix: we’ll just say it’s OOP and sell it for more!”
“REMEMBER our Mission Statement people:”

THERE’S A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE

Once again DF, will be selling The Carrier for $10 in a couple of months...Bill still has a mountain of defective discs he needs to get rid off.

Both of those labels have balls of steel for initially trying to raise the price on a defective release by saying “its OOP by CR”...yeah OOP .

So happy to see Walt coming out with top releases while these two guys are still trying to dump The Carrier on unsuspecting collectors...with Ruined parroting whatever narrative David and Bill happen to spill .

Hell no that atrocity is not worth $17...not even worth $7 imho.

I thought it was OOP? I thought DF would not be selling it anymore?

No problem, actual sold auctions:

Here is an opened copy of Zaat that confirmed sold for $90
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F302771652365

Here is one that sold for $65
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F173445498630

Another that sold for $65
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F142872691375

Quite a long ways from the $6 it retailed for, with probably the worst application of DNR on blu ray to date on a movie that is 2.5/10 on IMDB. Scarcity is what makes prices go up, basically nothing else.

Call it what you want but the collector market for scarce items exists and stuff can get very expensive. Trying to claim DNR will change that is a disproven argument.

Blu titan actually proved my argument true by questioning the pricing on The Carrier but not the pricing of Necromancy. $30 for necromancy is a lot for a title that has been out a long time, most would be in the 10-20 range by now - reason it wasnt questioned? Its actually a decent price due to the scarcity of the title. Whether they go the same route with the carrier or not is yet to be seen; doesnt matter how scarcity on the market is created, once it happens prices rise.

The only way the current blu of the carrier will not be an expensive collectors item at some point is if the directors cut is reissued on another blu down the road. Code red seems to be the only one interested in releasing/able to release this though.

Gamera: The Brave recently went OOP (for real). According to Ruined's logic you should have purchased as many copies as possible and now each one is worth $500 .

In fact, if you "listened" to Ruined and bought The Carrier expecting a price increase (as he predicted over and over)...you missed out on investing on Gamera The Brave .

No matter how much people list the carrier for on ebay, It will never be worth owning. Also I can probably get a ticket into a wax museum for a cheaper price, and get a similar if not better experience.

You keep talking about scarcity being the driver of high prices, but you seem to have forgotten that there also has to be demand in tandem with that.

Do a search of sold listings. A best offer was accepted, but it was lower than $150.

No point in trying to change his mind. The mere fact that defalco sold this on his site means he had to defend it with all of his might.

My ebay client is showing that one I linked as sold for the full $149.99 . if it was a best offer the price would have been crossed out and best offer accepted noted. See attached picture, sold price says 149.99 and no mention of best offer accepted.

I think this seller is selling multiple copies under the same auction# though (which you can do on ebay) so there may be more sold at different prices.

I broke my rarely broken no blind buys rule and bought The Backlot Murders, all the talk about the commentary track on this thread sold it for me. Hilarious. Movie wasn't too bad either. Didn't fall in love with it but it was enjoyable and had a lot of funny moments. I'd recommend it.

Any other good Bill commentary tracks?

I, like the most people, don't frequent this board as much as I used to. It's comforting to know some things will never change.

I will say, Blu Titan, u da man!

I don't know if they are funny or just train wrecks but he did a ton of commentaries , like Death journey. Mean Johnny Barrows, At the Earth Core. Gorp. Transformation. Brute Corp. moonster shark. After the fall of.NY. New Year's Evil. Drums, Sugar Hill, river of dearh, etc etc etc etc . You can ask.many on this forum their thoughts on them

If you follow Ruined guide to wealth and prosperity...all you need to is buy all of the “limited” - “OOP” titles from Code Red and DF and you will be set for life...everything will be selling for hundreds of $ in the future. Yeah, even a defective release of a crappy movie that nobody was demanding to begin with .

Now let see how well The Carrier sold this week per DF Big Cartel store rankings... that will give us a clue as to the demand for it .

BTW, one copy selling for a certain amount does not establish price or value. There’s always an outlier which is ZERO indication as to what a seller can expect from a similar item.

Years have passed and anyone can buy Necromancy, which had/has an artificially inflated price due to a stunt Bill pulled...people (I hope) are now wise to that.

The rights to Police Connection expired over a year ago but new copies appear for sale at the DF Cartel store. And, Police Connection was opposed to be a REAL OOP release .

Savage Streets was repressed twice and somebody attested over and over that it would not be repressed again. Sold for a high price and now there’s another repress coming our way.

The House That Vanished was not going to be sold any longer and it remained available for sale at SAE and and now DF is selling again for $22...this was held by DF and Ruined as an example of a “valuable” OOP collectible...can’t give it away .

I can only hope, for the sake of humanity, that customers are NOT that naive and can spot nonsense when they see it .

Bottom line: buy the movies you want, but don’t fall for obvious nonsense.

*Can’t wait to read the next “Straw Man” argument from Ruined: “But look at how much My Bloody Valentine is selling for and the PQ is not that great.”

Well when my title goes oop it really do go oop because I'm not holding any extra copy to gauge the price and if I do find any extra copies I sell them at retail place. Or close to, to be fair. And a warning, a lot of my Corman license titles will be going of print real soon so a heads up

Is this because of Shout's purchase of the library? Just curious.
