I know I'm beating a dead horse but I still can't get over this new listing policy on titles Shout's implementing. I am utterly perplexed why Return of the Living Dead II isn't available for Purchase at Best Buy right now. I have a $25 gift card that I was planning to use on other titles but have since pre-ordered them elsewhere and so now I'm waiting on ROTLDII to pop back up so I can snag it and maybe In the Mouth of Madness but ROTLDII is no where to be found. Amazon has jacked the price back up to $29.99 at the moment and there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why titles are coming and going on some sites, despite being past the original street date.

Really losing just about all of my enthusiasm for upcoming Scream releases in the last few weeks. Their current business model is nauseating.

The way they've handled this whole situation has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I've basically lost interest in them. It also doesn't help that every few releases has some sort of problem that no one seemed to catch. How many replacement programs do you have to do before something changes? I know mistakes happen, and we're all human... but damn! Doesn't it get expensive? Oh, well. I'll just pick up their releases down the road sometime when they hit a more reasonable price. Might miss out on a slipcover or two, but I'll live. Only good thing that's come out of this mess is when the inevitable f#ckup does happen *coughReturnOfTheLivingDeadPartIIAudioProblemscoug h*, I'll have dodged a bullet by not paying $38 for a Blu-ray with VHS audio (which I might have forgiven, if it had been addressed up front, in a professional manner. Nah, we have to wait until people comment on their Facebook page wondering how someone screwed up... yet again. "Oh, uh, ya caught that, huh? Well, uh, there's a good reason for that! Uh..." You wanna charge close to $40 for a thirty year old movie? Take a lesson from Arrow or Vinegar Syndrome (while both not perfect)(no one is), they seem to understand/care about their customers. I never rant. I never even really comment. I probably come off more upset than I am. First world problems, I know. Lol. It's whatever. More money for other companies ![]() |

I only got Chainsaw 4 and SNDN Part 2 pre-ordered because they're titles I'm down with spending full direct prices for and Exorcist II I lucked out through Bullmoose during the heat of the first week of these obnoxious shenanigans.
Everything else is pretty much lost purchases until they stop being pricks to buyers who just wanna pre-order their titles through major retailers. |

Shout are digging their own graves. Maybe they want out of the home video game and this is their way of going about it. Wouldn't explain why they'd bother licensing from Warner now but it's the only theory I can come up with. |

I never thought I'd see the day where an Exorcist 2 or TCM:NG bluray would have a $30-$35 list price. Who are they kidding? ![]() |

If the market is trending in the direction of movies costing that much again, then that's a fact, and collectors should probably resign themselves to it. I don't mind paying a bit more if that's what it takes to get titles like some of these released. I'd prefer to not have to -- but if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes, and I don't see the value in being babyish about it.

I can see this breaking a lot of collectors of the OCD need for slipcovers. By waiting until a price goes down reasonably, the risk of not getting a slip increases. Once that spell is broken, the need for completism dries up.

I think it's just a sign of the times that the average Joe is going digital were movies are a) cheaper and b) do not take up any physical space in homes. I'm scared to say it, but I have a feeling 5-10 years from now it will be like laserdiscs in the mid-90s all over again... |
