If the other shoe drops and the video on the UHD disappoints as well...at least as it compares to the 35th Anniversary edition, there are worse releases to retain their supremacy for another few years than the latter from the Scream boxed set.

To the point raised earlier: Has anyone verified that the original mono on that particular disc--35th from box--meets the lossless True HD specification it's listed under...and isn't merely a ported Dolby Digital track?

Just received a confirmation mail form Deep Discount my copy has shipped (along with both Punisher movies)!

I'm not from the US though so I don't know how long it will take for them to get here (Europe). First time I ordered from DD.

So, just before I pre-order this from WOW-HD (extremely cheap btw!), how are they for shipping to the UK? Also, are UHDs definitely region-free?

Thanks.

Mono? Huh? Is it 1940 or 2018 here? And sorry in advance to the film gurus or whomever but I have zero interest in watching a film with a mono audio track. Unless I’m reading this all wrong.

I wasn’t going to buy this right away anyways so this just validates my decision.

Lmao I bet the people that complain for lack of the original mono audio are also the same people that complained about the Nolan releases being ruined because lack of Atmos or DTS X and instead went with the theatrical audio.

On that note I'm still getting this, I barely remember this movie in bits and pieces from my childhood so watching it in 4k will be very fresh experience.

For those of us non-technical people who just enjoy watching the films, can someone please explain in layman's terms how this 'fold down' is going to sound, generally speaking, when compared to the original mono soundtrack?

I mean, are we going to hear sounds coming out of our rear speakers that we shouldn't be, or will there be hiss on the soundtrack, or massive volume discrepancies between talky scenes and scenes with music being played on the soundtrack?

Thanks.

They take about 10-14 days and yes, all UHD's are region free!

Yes, you're reading it wrong. There is a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track in the UHD. The thing is, many people around here want the original mono track too. And there is a mono track included in the disc too, but it's not the original mix, it's a fold-down of the 7.1 track. That's what everybody is complaining about.

It's a mono track, so there can't be anything coming from the rears.
Being a remixed track means there could volume differences, new sound effects, etc. This is what somebody else wrote:

You can tell the difference in a few ways, but one of them is that the opening credits music is slightly different and the scene where Dr. Loomis and the nurse drive up to the sanitarium has a few more thunderclaps that were added later.

Thanks for that Memon, appreciated.

So what it sounds like to me basically, is that the sound quality itself should still be OK, it's just that there might be some slight differences in terms of music cues, sound effects, etc (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

If that's the case, I'm cool with that. If people don't want to buy the disc because of that, then it seems like they're cutting off their nose to spite their face.

It means that the 7.1 track with all the different sound effects/changes are stuffed into one speaker instead of seven which completely defeats the object. People don't listen to mono tracks in one speaker just for the sake of it.
