If we are going to continue with rampant speculation, why would any content owner severely restrict their revenue stream by limiting the viewing of their content to mobile devices? Content owners want to make money, why would they care about the device that I choose to view it on? The more ways they make their content available, the more ways they stand to make money. Restricting access to specific devices makes no financial sense.

Further, there is no evidence that people prefer to watch movies on mobile devices; they do so when that is their only option, such as when they are away from home. Limiting access to a movie via a viewing method that is not even remotely a preferred one makes even less sense.

Sorry to tell you, again, but I do not share your fears.

Filmstruck is shutting down.
The irony being that it is an older prediction of his coming true about a streaming service shutting down, rather than his more recent predictions about how every little new thing in mobile and streaming is going to instantly and immediately obliterate physical media and large TVs.

Whoever owns the content, traditional movie studio or any other entity, still has a financial incentive to make as much money as possible. Limiting access to that content only limits their potential revenue sources and what business wants to arbitrarily restrict their opportunities to make money?

Businesses like to maximize profits and the widest distribution method increases that potential.

They would likely lose a lot of money as there are still A LOT of people who have no desire to watch a movie on their mobile device.

To be fair i never said anything would be immediate with the exception of a scenario where we are forced to choose.

So what are you saying? That somebody like Verizon is going to commission the next Stranger Things and make it viewable only on phones with Verizon contracts and that people are going to be so taken with this experience that they'll abandon their televisions and projectors and theaters en masse and consume all their media on phones and phones alone?

Want has nothing to do with it. What choice would they have?

Well, yes, almost everyone has one. It doesn't mean that they prefer to watch movies and TV on.

On very rare occasion I've watched a Youtube video on my phone... usually a trailer that I was waiting to drop and it's the only way I'm able to watch it at the time if I'm away from home.... or if I'm out with friends or something and I ask if they've seen a video and then maybe show it to them if they haven't.

But in general, as a main way of watching most content? No thanks.

Too many people would be against it. And why would they even want to push that anyway? It's one thing for it to be streaming exclusive (which I wouldn't be thrilled about either), but for it to not be viewable on a TV in any manner? That would be asinine.

In addition to the situation that Octagon laid out, are people who aren't viewing it of their own free will and have no desire to do so going to be forced to at gun point?

And the point is that a lot of people would simply opt not to watch it and spend their time watching something else.

I went and measured the distance from my fireplace mantle to my chair and I’m about 10.5-11’ away from my 65” KS Series. Everything looks great. Whether it is digital, physical or gaming
