At this point it's more likely WB releases a UHD than Criterion so I hope WB keeps it.

Yes. Click "Shop entire collection" and then select "Filter". You can filter films from whatever country you're looking for from there.

While there's obviously not really room for improvement on the 4K remaster or the Ebert/Bogdanovich commentaries, they could really deck it out with new video pieces. They'd be able to fill up a second disc just with stuff like another Craig Barron/Ben Burtt video on the effects and sound design, perhaps another on the cinematography, another on editing, plus more Dick Cavett and Tom Snyder episodes.

They could also include a printed copy of the screenplay, as well as include Welles' The Heart of Ages and Too Much Johnson.

I had to skip out on the latest flash sale, so I plan on getting a few titles at B&N throughout the month. I'm hoping to get the Bergman set, but I have a feeling that will sell out quickly online and most stores will have very limited stock.

Yep.

I haven't seen Taipei Story yet. The Terrorizers is the only other Yang (besides ABSD and YiYi) that I've seen, but I don't remember a whole lot about it. Unfortunately, a friend with the second World Cinema box set just moved away, so I guess I'll throw it on the FilmStruck queue and try to squeeze it in before it goes away. Rebels is the only Tsai I've seen at all—and I'm eager to see more, so I keep eyeing that Taiwanese box set and then not buying it in hopes Arrow or someone will repackage the masters from it. (Coincidentally, I just stumbled on a review that mentions The Terrorizers as a influence on Vive L'Amour...)

EXACTLY! I've been saying this exact same thing for a while now about the new Disney streaming service. The average consumer cannot afford to have several different streaming accounts. Nor would they want to. The whole idea of streaming I thought was to have it all right at your fingertips with just a click of a button. Hard to do that when it's scattered across multiple platforms. Really makes one long for the days of Blockbuster where it REALLY was ALL (relatively speaking) in one place.

I don't think it's anything other than Denis' film. I mean, it's an open door letting the sunshine in.

Well Magnificent Ambersons and Story from Chikamatsu are on my to buy list. This is in response to whoever said there are fewer and fewer Criterions they wanted to buy.

I didn't think much of Let the Sunshine In, but I feel I would maybe warm to it on a second viewing. I had the same experience with Bastards, as well as with some other recent French films, such as Personal Shopper, although since it features Kristen Stewart perhaps it doesn't pass as an entirely "French film". I used to think Assayas was just another overrated Gallic journeyman with intelligence and good taste but lacking in talent who relied on state television funding, but watching Cold Water put his career in an entirely new light for me.

North by Nortwest in the near future?

Not sure if it’s on another Criterion release, but it stood out as a possibility.

It be great if it were something like Napoleon, but I'll dream on. Roman Holiday would be a dream come true.
