Hurray me! I got a new 4K TV on Black Friday, a Samsung NU7100 55". Last night, I got a new 4K player, a Sony UBP-X700. The old player, a Sony BDP-S580 was plugged into my pre-4K Denon receiver with a pre-4K HDMI unknown speed cable. The time between getting the new TV & getting the new 4K player, I have watched several Blu-ray movies & everything was fine.
All I did was unplug the old player (power, ethernet & HDMI) and plug in the new one (power cord was different but that is a non-issue). The new player does have 2 HDMI outputs, audio/video & audio only, so I plugged into the audio/video one. The problem I am having is the screen shows "no signal found" when trying to watch a movie. Watching TV is fine. My question is: do I need a "4K" HDMI cable from player to receiver & out to TV, or is it my receiver not "seeing" the 4K player because it's pre-4K technology? It shows in the player's instructions that if you don't have a 4K receiver, you are supposed to run a HDMI cable from the audio only output into the receiver AND a HDMI cable from the audio/video output straight into the TV. I don't know, please help! |
