What if they all looked the same because, mine was terrible overall. The 4K looked like a 1080p upscaled DVD! So far, First Blood is the worst 4K Blu-ray that I've seen. Whoever review this 4K disc on this site wasn't honest because, it looks a mess, and it's suppose to native 4K? I don't think so and if it is, then something had went drastically wrong with the video quality because, it sure doesn't look native 4K at all.

Got through all but third one. I had to go to sleep in the middle of it.
The second one is a stunner just like the first one. The few bad shots that are soft and dusty have always been that way so cannot complain the transfer. The original just has had those always. The explosions in the end and some of the jungle daytime shots with the rocks and waterfall are reference quality. The base camp shots as well. Very much enjoyed the second one. The third one did not impress me as much. Maybe because of the sandy dry color palette but it just does not have the same kind of highlighted cinematography. Also felt it was a little softer than the two. There has not been much action yet and plenty of it and night shots to come still so I'll wait. The review said the grain is not as fine in this one but I did not notice that yet. Just a softer Image which might reveal the grain a bit more in close ups but we will see. All in all still seems a almost perfect transfer since there is no real complains here. Now bring the fourth one to 4K. I remember the bluray being stunning alltho the digital blood effects might get too exposed in 4K... Update: Finished the third. Some of the heavy machine gun sounds were really underwhelming and in the first big action scene there was some heavy grain when the smoke and dust are heavy in the air but nothing too distracting. One later shot where rambo is passing desert is really noisy and soft. Seems like something in the original print again. All in all pretty good but was more impressed with the first two. Again maybe they are more easy with bigger variency in colors. Last edited by Tuc0; 12-29-2018 at 06:52 PM. |

An interesting developement!
A few weeks after experiencing freezing/skipping when Trautman is talking to Rambo on the radio, I decided to try that scene again last night. This time it played straight through! Not a single glitch! I also had a couple of freezes/skips while watching Star Trek (2009). I was able to wind back and re-play those scenes with no problem. This is what inspired me to revisit Frist Blood. My theory? My Philips 7502 needed a "break in" period and now that it has some hours on it, it's "learned" to play through previous problem spots. I could be wrong but it makes a kind of sense to me. In a week or two, I'll watch First Blood in full and see what happens. |

I had a similar problem during that scene with my Panasonic UB820. For me the video would break up. I exchanged mine and the replacement played fine.
