Deadpool has 1 version that has been re-released with new packaging. The disc itself hasn't changed.

Deadpool 2 is having a PG-13 version released which had a theatrical release. Venom has no such additional releases.

My point still stands.

In 5 hours time we could find out it's streaming-only or it might be a disc the press release alludes to both. And both are just as likely.

If reports on AVS Forum are to be believed, IMAX Enhanced, at least for now, is nothing more than a bunch of hooey. The IMAX mode on the certified receivers decoding the DTS: X tracks on the two current IMAX 4k discs from Mill Creek trips a setting and adds an artificial boost to the LFE sub output... overriding your system calibration settings... and "cooking the books" as to the bass output.

They also still seem to be 7.1.4 DTS: X tracks. The added Center Height "channel" touted is matrix derived.

Add to that the potential of changing certain movies' aspect ratios to "fill your screen with more picture."

So far... I would have to say... no thanks!

Arguing on what basis other than to have the last word perhaps? There's literally no proof is it say that its streaming-only. Unless you lack the ability to read paragraphs.

Nothing but 5% tweaks and 95% marketing sizzle, you say? Who'da thunk it??

At this point the only thing I’m really excited about is the expanded ratio for titles, the audio aspect is really disappointing.

Even so, the expanded AR might not apply to everything as Venom didn't embiggen for its IMAX run (it was shot primarily in anamorphic so there's literally nothing to embiggen above and below the frame). So if it doesn't expand then what's left? IMAX's "proprietary" image enhancements, that in all likelihood do exactly the same for the video as with the "IMAX" audio: give it a boost to make it 'pop' more and hope nobody's paying too much attention to the particulars.

If all I get is 2049, TDK, TDKR, Infinity War and Aquaman I'll be happy.

As ashamed as I am to say it, I'd probably pick up 2049. Can't see the Nolans getting a rework, but if they did and managed to un**** Batman Begins then I'd buy that too.

Apologies I meant specifically just the last 2. But the only reason I even care about IMAX ENHANCED is really just for and the get my hope up for 2049. I love that ****ing movie. Everything else concerning it I care little for. I just need to see that world blown up like in the theater.

Begins still got an IMAX run though, it's partly what got Nolan drawn into the whole IMAX world in the first place even without any embiggening.

Yeah that’s what I mean, only interested in titles that receive that ratio or anything that got a botched transfer on first release. I’m genuinely disappointed that there’s not much else going on under the hood. Also, hopefully Alpha gets a disc release.

I'd be excited to get Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with IMAX enhanced scenes

It would mean Brad Bird changed his mind - don't see that happening since they recently issued the UHD.

As much as I'd love to have the IMAX version of Ghost Protocol - although the actual IMAX scenes in the UHD still look absolutely amazeballs* - it's very much dependent on Bird changing his tune, yeah.

* Fun fact: they used 8-perf 65mm as well as the full 15-perf 65mm on that show, keeping the 15-perf in reserve for the biggest shots. IMAX VFX output in 4K.
