Wasn't 1.66:1 the European Widescreen back in the day. I think some James Bonds and Hitchcock movies were also in that AR.
I've no clue why Verhoeven chose that AR for an American movie.

As for the features on the disc:
Audio Commentary by Director Paul Verhoeven, Co-Writer Edward Neumeier, Executive Producer Jon Davison and RoboCop Expert Paul M. Sammon
Storyboards
- Film-to-Storyboard Comparison (1:24)
- Unshot Sequence: The Chase (stills)
- Unshot Sequence: The Cemetery (stills)
An Illustrated Essay on the 'Making Of RoboCop'
Teaser Trailer (1:29)
Theatrical Trailer (1:39)

I still wonder if the commentary track is different from all others as they explicity mention Paul M. Sammon. I've to listen to it and compare it to the blu-ray commentary track.
