There’s really no reason he should lie about. James Cameron has even said he wasn’t involved in the remastering of The Abyss and True Lies But he still has to approve it.
He can be 100% involved and human error can still occur. It’s pretty easy to make editing mistakes when tackling an enormous project like this. I’m surprised this was the only one. Unless you think “100% involvement” is so literal to the point that you think Shawn Ryan himself was sitting there at the computer(s) handling the final editing and encoding processes himself, then this was simply a case of the team at Sony making an editing mistake with their files during the final encoding/assembly process (after Shawn had approved of everything). It’s not that deep, dude.

I’m also inclined to think that the only other person agreeing with you in this thread may in fact be you, considering the join date and the fact that your opinions, quite frankly, are absurd.

I bet batman90 isn't even a Batman even though it's in his username.

Speaking of, anyone seen the 4K version? Is it possible to check the bitrate/compare it to the screen grabs from the BD-review? The dvds were really gritty too, so I think I'm going to hold my judgement until I watch it one way or another.

You just don't get it. At all. I'm not going to bother to reiterate what already in this thread to you. Read it, or don't.

Well, I just discovered that Sony is moving things over to VUDU and the Ultra streaming service is in limbo at the moment, so you can't see it unless you already have an account. I don't know anyone who uses the service and I haven't really read any reports of anyone actually using the service in recent times, likely because it was attached to their TVs (and not their disc players, apparently), making it obscure to many. There was also a PC access option, if you have a capable 4K HTPC.

Sony Ultra is not going away anytime soon, only the Sony Picturs Store which sold physical & digital copies.

Dead by the end of the year. Sony will be announcing an OTT streaming service within the next six months and join everyone else attempting to become a monthly subscription service.

...And you all thought cable bills sucked.

What's with people using this word all the time? It's like the most used attack against those that don't accept getting less than adequate products by corporations.

That being said it sounds like this was an issue of wrong data being given and was not caught. I'd be mad if I bought this and had cut episodes especially since plenty of times companies usually don't give a F. I'm hoping this gets fixed and a replacement program is set up.

My main problem is the lack of play all and an option to not have previously on before the episode. These are not New options and should be standard. Still it isn't a deal breaker imo but the censored episode not being fixed sorta is but until its said that it won't be I'll pay the optimistic game yet I totally understand those that don't or are mad.

Never said I was entitled to anything. All I’m saying is he’s lying and doesn’t have the guts to admit it.

Consumer: "Hey, the **** man? this thing I didn't create nor have paid money for [yet] is wrong! You said you were on it!"
Creator: "Oh shit, you're right. Let me contact the people who also handled this, on your behalf, and see what and how soon we can rectify it."
Consumer: "Go **** yourself! Just admit, amidst the market demand to remaster 65 hours content while producing another show, you missed these 20 seconds I'm fixated on therefore proving you didn't do the work like you PWOMMMISSSED."
Creator: "Literally not what happened...here's the official word from the people who legally own the content now..."
Consumer: "Nyu-uh, you need to admit you're lying."

That's how you and DVD Josh sound. Fandoms have all of sudden asserted ownership of these IPs to an unhealthy level of delusion. You all feel entitled to a creator's undivided attention and servitude. Sony said for years that a remaster wasn't a viable endeavor for them. Fans and even Shawn Ryan himself advocated that it was. Here we are, it got a remaster. Turns out they accidentally sent the European cut of this one episode, and the remedy is being explored.

There's nothing wrong with being passionate, but you two come off like loons.

Shawn was the one who said The Shield wasn’t coming to Bluray until someone at Sony remastered the first episode and showed him and then he changed his mind.

WRONG! Shawn wanted it to happen and pushed for it after the show became a hit and was about to end, but at the time the show was being made, Sony was violently beating their meat over the idea that Blu-Ray was ONLY for crystal-clear stuff that would help sell their HDTVs and disc players, so they felt the show was not going to be a standard-bearer for the format due to the 16mm cinematography and film-stock used. Back in 2009, TV on BD was a new thing and mostly failing big, so Sony didn't want to take any risk with it. Now, things are much different with streaming services wanting HD masters - which was the REAL reason the 4K restoration was approved - and people buying TV shows on Blu-Ray or digital download regularly.

And Sony is still so scared that this along with other television products were/are being licensed out to Mill Creek.

Sony would be an ideal candidate for the 10-Year Photo Challenge. Huge difference there.

Either one of these things are true I think:
1) You are lying
2) You are clueless and don't have all the information.
3) You are taking things out of context on purpose in order to troll.

I think the second one is applicable to you and thank you for showing everyone. Stop spouting BS when you clearly don't know what is going on.

It took me less than a minute to find the forum thread linked to "the Shield"-page:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=19

and from there using google on twitter statements resulting in:
https://twitter.com/shawnryantv/status/3518485433
https://twitter.com/shawnryantv/status/3519639693

Quote:
I asked Sony when The Shield would be on Blu-Ray. I was told that our film wasn't high enough quality to put on Blu-Ray. Seems appropriate.
Quote:
To clarify, Sony said the 16 mm FILM STOCK was of insufficient quality to put out on Blu-Ray, not the quality of the show. Thnx for concern.
The tweets are from 2009, in case you couldn't tell....

Just ordered this set today. I was initially going to wait until the price came down some more, but I'm tired of waiting. It's a good price for what you get.

I'd take a look back at the last page or so, cancel the order, and wait for confirmation on a remedy.
