They’ll use 35mm pre-print materials such as interpositives; release prints are not the ideal for creating a home video master unless it’s the only sutible element. The only 16mm based film, that I can think of, that used a 35mm release print(s) for a home video release was Shout’s “Dog Soldiers”.
