Default Buttkicker Amp Question

I have had my buttkicker kit for 1 week now. It is an awesome experience to feel what you see. However, when I first turn on my amp, the red light comes on, but then it rarely ever turns green. Usually I have to disconnect my audio cable in the back of the amp and push it back in, and sure enough I can "hear" the little hum that the amp is now "active" and the light will then be green. I know this isn't normal, so I think I have a bad amp? I had a 25' audio subwoofer cable made for me by my local audio/video specialty store. So, I figure maybe the cable is insufficient for the job. I ordered a new one from Monoprice (25' High Quality Coaxial Audio/Video CL2 rated cable, RG6/U, 75ohm) and that one too requires me to unplug it from the amp and plug it back in to get the green light. I have called Monoprice and we did do a few things to get it to work at the time thinking it was fixed, but sure enough the next day, it was doing it again (by the way, great customer service, I must say!) Question is, do I not have the correct audio cable or is it a defective amp?
