The little tweaks here and there with the music player/video player/photo slide show

I don't know for sure about any of this (or a LOT of things ), but that sounds reasonable. It's like a game of leapfrog that the consumers always benefits from.
I don't have a problem with that, what I have a problem with is the same "journalists" washing over the fact that launch 360s have a near 100% failure rate over three years, had the whole UI upgraded because the old one was shit, has a door stop add-on which cost many people up to $169, sounds like a jet engine, and has a distinct lack of heavy hitters for the coming year, hell even the Wii looks like it could have a better line-up. Adding in that MS charge $30-50 a year for XBL which you essentially get for free on with PS3/Wii (maybe not Wii as the online is pretty bad and disorganised/poorly integrated).

How about looking into the fact that MS seem to be losing/dropping first party studios like no tomorrow while their opponents are doing the exact opposite. SCE and Nintendo have always believed in a strong first party, what makes MS so special that they can survive with Lionhead, Rare, "Team Halo", and Turn 10 as their only major first party studios? Nope, they'll never ask that question, it takes far too much journalistic integrity to be fair and balanced these days.
