It also seems that different stores do things differently too, some leave nice packaging out with the books and all which is a recipe for disaster really. And because of this ordering online can be a complete gamble too, since stock just comes from the first store that picks it up

Picked this up today for £3.50. Been looking for a used copy for years given the price for a new copy.
I did pick up Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald 4K yesterday but I took it back as the 4K disc was scratched. Shame really as it actually had the slipcover.

Bale's in subdued form, but McConaughey chews all the scenery he can get his hands on.

It’s only £8.90 new at Amazon, is it out of print?

Yep no accent for Bale on this one, so out of his acting range of
50% Accents
50% weight loss/gain

He is fully 50% muscle weight gain

McConaughey barks his dialogue like a pirate. Bale just acts like the everyman.

Thanks to you guys I understand their reasoning now but I still can't get my had around that if it's sealed they shouldn't need to check the discs are inside. I know for a trade-in I don't get anything extra for sealed discs but it seems self explanatory. The guy on the counter completely seemed to ignore me and was more interested in dealing with me so he could serve or talk to his visiting friend who was standing next to me.

I agree with you, the one consistent thing with their stores is how bad the customer service is!

it's understandable why they'd open a sealed copy, who knows if you haven't opened it up and stuck a blank CD then resealed it to make it seem like the movie is in there

One of the very finest. His performance in The Fighter was incredible. And not because his accent was spot on or the fact he lost so much weight, but how he actually performed in the role. Harsh Times and Rescue Dawn are another 2 of his absolute best performances IMO.

Anecdote from yesterday. Woman was brought upstairs by a member of staff and seemed completely lost.

“so are these all the new releases? are these the older ones? so where are French movies? I’m quite interested in Cary Grant he’s very good, also this director”
“yeah so that’s in world cinema which is part of the A to Z mixed in here, over there you have the 50p DVDs, you can tell it’s world cinema when it has a sticker on the barcode saying WORLD CINEMA”
“do you have this film?”
“ok so that begins with a C so that will be over here with the Cs”
“I have a list that I brought into HMV do you have any of these, the person there crossed through some of the films so does that mean they’ve been made into DVDs?”
“I don’t know unfortunately we don’t have access to HMV’s database”

Anyway I have massive respect for people working in retail for who they have to deal with! She seemed nice enough, I’ve just never seen someone in CEX having the concept of CEX explained to them before!

And they can't leave sealed stock on the shelves or it'll likely get nicked, so they do the whole decanting into sleeves thing in front of you to waste as much of your time as humanly possible while they give you pathetic prices for things.
That said I sell them most of my hardware, phones, peripherals, etc. and find when I want a new console I can usually scrape together enough electrical stuff for trade in that I should have eBayed while it still had some value!
