Fury Road does a few things in terms of structure and narrative which are unconventional. Most films introduce their characters first before they get to the action, this movie does it the other way round. It’s front loaded with action and only a third into the movie it starts to take a breather and we start to get to know the characters and what makes them tick. I’ve found that a lot of the film’s detractors have a problem with that, I think that’s an interesting choice though.

I disagree in the sense that the characters are introduced and developed THROUGH the action. You get to know them through their actions and behaviour with minimal dialogue.
