Well, that and Manhattan hipsters love to hit the town by Happy Hour...

So, we all waited three days that time, too.
Criterion needs to stop jerking him off. More deserving directors out there

Aha, spine #1000 will be The Invisible Man! Unfortunately the invisibility potion made all the other releases disappear.

I think bongo was referring to Media Blasters, not Criterion. I'm sure Criterion is trying to abide by every decision Toho requests. And I don't hate Toho at all; they're just very possessive of their titles and how they get released, and that's how it should be.

Huh?
The example given was Media Blasters having to pull their releases because it included stuff not approved by Toho - like that was somehow Toho's fault. I never said anything about Criterion trying to do the same.

And I doubt this delay has anything to do with getting clearance on anything from Toho. It is likely Comic-Con. Or something stupid like a cover needing approved, as previously mentioned regarding Wes Anderson.

Yes, we'll get "Isle of Dogs" in 4K finally, after Fox cancelled their original 4K release. I mean, who knows, maybe?

I gotta ask: why do so many people want a Godzilla box set? The movies can't be that incredible

Yeah I don’t get it either. I would honestly be a little underwhelmed.

I'm not interested in a Godzilla box set, so I'll be slightly disappointed if thats what spine 1000 is. Hopefully the rest of the line up tickles my fancy.

I don't really care what spine 1000 is, I've only been keeping up with the announcement this month because of the Godzilla rumor. Godzilla is my life, but I probably have less than twelve Criterion titles in my collection. This set will finally bring the remainder of the live action Godzilla films to Blu-ray in the US, I've been waiting for this.

As much as I love Godzilla if they do release a box set unless the Original is remastered from a newer scan I will probably pass. If they had rights to 1984 and that was remastered I'd spring for it.

Wishing/Hoping the 1000 spice is also their jump into the UHD/4K market but kind of doubt it for now.

I wonder if all of this Godzilla hype (it's not only here) forced Criterion to change their plans and release that as 1000 instead of whatever was originally planned, hence the uncharacteristic delay.

There's probably three or four movies in the boxset that are really good. Potential resotration of King Kong vs Godzilla. It's a sneaky major release.
