Native 1080P/24 and 4K pay per view (on demand) movies exists on Direct TV satellite, but so far most cable TV companies use 1080i instead of 1080P. Only some cable TV companies offer on demand movies in 1080P and 4K. Also CNN channels are native 1080i unless your cable company downscales the channel to 720P quality. Fox news channel is native 720P. |

The last thing the TV OEMs need is for the media to judge 8K an unworthy upgrade for consumers. They have nothing in the wings should that happen. If 8K doesn't flourish, the TV OEMs will be in VERY bad shape. |

Got the Samsung QN65Q900 (8K) and it is really impressive. Every source I run into it looks better. It's about the up-conversion and AI processing that it does and for me, I'm running:
Broadcast TV (antenna) PS4-Pro Xbox One Asus PC (running at 4K hdr) Panasonic DPUB820 4K BD (playing 4K BD, BD, DVD on different settings. PS3 PS2 PS1 Xbox360 Xbox Laserdisc (Pioneer) Samsung 4K BD player (for some discs the Pana' doesn't play) Pioneer DVD/recorder Netflix 4K, Amazon Prime 4K through the TV itself. Now, because I'm pretty picky on PQ, I see differences like, less noise but increased fine detail. Color is more solid, more shades of color and with the full array and many more dimming zones, better blacks with increased detail in those blacks along with more grayscale. Running the PS4-Pro for example, on Division2 in Sammy's Freesynch game mode... no lag at all, running at the native frame rate of the game, or I can shut that off and do my own settings but point being, smoother image, more detail, more shades of color, better blacks and bear in mind, this is all compared to my QN65Q9 (2017), which I really liked. For ME... this panel made perfect sense but for the average person... probably not, especially if said person is just watching Cable and a bit of Netflix. |

Missing the point entirely guys. Jesus... i had 4K, im saying there are noticeable differences between the Q9 i had and the Q900 8K with the AI chip. Whether you are open to what im saying or just wanna put your heads into the sand doesnt change what i see, what i experience. Im not trying to sell you a goddamn tv, im stating the differences at my end. Get it?????

I agree with everything, but the 900 does not upscale the colours of UHD. Hence you can not have more colours than 4K. Everything else is also what I found when I calibrated the 900. Colour accuracy is also weird throughout the spectrum. Bit I really like the solidity of the colours. Watching it from 9ft away one can easily see the colour and image density.

If a person wants to get a large tv but sit closer to a tv as usual then a 8K tv makes sense, for the same pixel density as a 40-43” 4k the 85” 8K will have around the same pixel density.
I think everyone is thinking too much about the resolution, if the person wants the brightest tv, best price for a high end large tv and upscaling is far superior than when 4k first came out, gaming devices that support the resolution is here (PC) and consoles a year later...then 8K tv would be a great option. |

I was testing AirPlay to our new HU85LA, which works beautifully.
To see the dirrerence in image quality I used the same picture and AirPlayed it to severall other 4K and our 2 8K TVs in the showroom and I cna tell with with 100% certnity that the 8K TV cleaned up the iPhone images significantly better than any of the 4K TVs. Unquestionably, the 8K TVs are scaling low resolution images far better then the best 4K TVs can do. |

Yes, which makes the point even more important that low grade video can be so greatly imporved with latest processing technics and powerful well tuned chip sets.
I reported exactly what I saw and was a suprised any anyone would be at the results. |
