Every era of home video has distinct art styles. We happen to be in an epoch of Justin Osborne/Graham Humphreys. Personally, I like them. You see this style on a lot of boutique T shirts like Fright Rags also. Probably one day, we will look back at these days with similar fondness as VHS box art styles of the 80s and 90s. There will always be wiggle room for the Mondo style art, but even that is very anchored to the modern era, though it recalls older styles.
I don't mind floating heads, but I guess they really annoy some. But that's art. I'm glad it's not just photoshopped collages like from the early '00s. |

I guess different taste for different folks. I personally think Graham Humphreys is one of the best artists alive today, and I really enjoyed his representation of the Thing. I really enjoy his work on the cover for AWIL as well as the film The Man With a Thousand Faces amongst many. Just my personal taste.

I kind of do but knowing that something is already paid for gives me peace of mind - most of the time. It's especially annoying when you order bundles that approximate the $100 price point. The retailers that do it should offer upfront payments as a choice.

Or a payment plan. I know that might be too difficult for some companies but I don't see why some of the boutique labels don't offer it on their more expensive bundles etc.

Depends. Sometimes I prefer to be charged upfront. I've got enough to pay for in October, so I'd rather pay for American Werewolf and Nightbreed now while I don't have additional bills and/or events to attend.

The only time it irritates me is when I have to jump quickly on a limited edition release for fear it will sell out when I haven’t had the time to more effectively save or budget for it.

Someone on the UK thread said that Amazon (at least the UK branch) will start charging upfront for preorders and they even linked to what looked like an official Amazon Terms & Conditions-type page confirming it. This was last month and so far no one has started any outrage threads to complain so I'm guessing it was fake.

Yeah I do. It doesn't make much sense to me honestly. There's times where I have to wait since I have bills to pay at that time I want to preorder.

Some movies/editions i'd be happy to be charged upon shipment but when it comes to releases that have a greater chance of selling out fast or some other potential weird incident could spring up, I go the Diabolik/direct monthts in advance route for them. |
