All the talk here continues to be about whether the shorter version will be included. I couldn't care less. I just want to know if the accompanying BD will be from the new master or the "same ole recycled disc".

I don't think I've ever been more excited for a release than this one.

People who don't own a 4K player yet but are future-proofing?

Then they should instead worry about getting a 4K player. These things are $150 new in store and $50 used on eBay. Hundreds, even thousands of movies in these people’s collections and they can’t afford that?

Everyone is different but having spent a fortune on my last TV and not wanting to ditch it just yet, especially since it gives me great 3D and a replacement will mean losing the ability to watch 3D your response smacks a little of arrogance. It’s only this year that TVs supporting both HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision have become available, and I want the dust to settle a little more before I part with about 5 grand for a new TV. In the meantime spending a few pounds extra to future-proof on each Blu-Ray release by buying the 4K UHD version, especially since I like steelbooks and slipcases which disappear almost immediately, seems the right way to go.

I did actually buy a 4K Oppo player (205) but now think that was a poor use of money and too early a jump given how quickly Oppo abandoned ship.

Players may be reasonable, but you'll need about $2,000 for a decent 4K TV, perhaps double that if you're going 65'' or above. It's not like members buy their entire collections in one go.

I have a player and a TV, would love a new display, but I'd be stuck with a perfectly working TV with no where to put it.

At Amazon UK this title can't be pre-ordered. Anyone who knows what's up?

I’ve been saying that for awhile. Why not add one? Many times I like a post but have nothing productive to add so the thanks button is perfect.

Many times I have the opposite feeling and a dislike button says it all. You could even argue the point that there would be less snarky back and forth banter between members here... maybe even less people being suspended by going overboard with unnecessary insults

It's not our fault that you are trying to hold onto a format that is as dead as Kevin Spacey's career. Get with it, 3D is dead. Movie on.

But seriously, I bought an Oppo 4K player too right before the announcement and I couldn't be happier. I don't think it was a waste. Even when I thought the player was dying on me. They make very good, sturdy, and reliable products. And they are still supporting said product so it's all good.

main problem still with 4k/UHD is the huge lack of titles compared to BD/DVD
so while I will upgrade to 4k at some point
I'll still be watching DVD & BD movies on it, and most of those will never be on 4k

There are no problems with UHD.

Yeah, and shiny discs are dead now that 4K streaming is here. I still find 3D Blu-Rays far more immersive than 2D even in 4K. My bad!
