Default The New Yamahas Are Here!

I just went to Yamaha's website and found out they just released their new wave of A/V receivers for 2009. The biggest news is that full HDMI lossless audio processing and HD audio decoding makes it's way down the line, all the way to the new RX-V465 5.1 channel receiver. Hopefully, the on-screen GUIs have improved as well.

The replacement for the RX-V663 is the new RX-V665. It adds 2 HDMI inputs (4 total), 1080p upscaling, and has a new blue display (now on all new receivers). However, the amplifier section was stepped down slightly from the 663, which is a shame. It lists for $549, matching the suggested price of the RX-V663.

In order to get the same amplifier section of the 663 (665 total watts, 90 X 7 channels 20 Hz to 20kHz), you need to step up to the RX-V765. I don't see a new replacement for the RX-V863 yet though. It better not be the RX-V765. I hope Yamaha doesn't kill the 863's amplifier/power supply from the RX-V line, because it's really good.

Here they are:
