I will add that I have never seen the 2 projectors side-by-side. So it is very possible that I would have been completely satisfied with the RS-1000 (NX5).

Another factor to consider is whether or not you would be closing down the iris to get better contrast. The NX5 only has 1 iris wereas the NX7 has 2 and 'can' achieve a higher contrast.

After my projector was calibrated, my calibrator set up my SDR-Bright mode (which is my default for SDR) to have the iris fully open and auto iris OFF. Which I presume would put my RS-2000 on equal footing with the RS-1000. However, he did say that I have so many nits available (125) that in HDR mode he turned the color filter ON. But I have to say that I don't know what to look for to tell if it made a big difference.

My logic at the time was that I could easily sell my old projector to offset the cost of the new one, so I did spring for the RS-2000. I wonder if I would have been very content with the RS-1000.

One other thing my calibrator said when he finished....
It is a matter of personal taste whether to use the auto iris or not. He told me his technical reasons for not using it. So for a while I will keep it off.
He also knows that many customers want to 'tweak' their iris by closing it down to get better contrast and lower black floor. He warned me that any more than 2 clicks off the current settings would cause the calibration to fall apart because the grey scale is based on this particular iris setting.

For now, I am just watching it as he calibrated it. I think I do prefer (most of the time) auto iris OFF because of brightness pumping when scenes change.
