Jesus Christ Almighty. Margot Robbie could say the grass is green and you nerds would find some way to be offended by it.

She made stupid comments so she's gonna get called out on them. Why is that surprising?

She's not stupid for suggesting that a mainstream film is gonna introduce these characters to a much wider audience.

I think all of the guys in this thread who have been convinced from day one that this movie is just going to be the worst, are really just upset because the running time is too long and will get in the way of all the sex they're having in their daily lives

This thread is RIDICULOUS. When I opened this thread I wanted to engage in some good convo about the actual movie and the characters but literally all I see is *****ing and ridiculous complaints about the actors. If you aren’t looking forward to the movie why do all of you keep coming into the thread to trash it? I get discourse of a movie can include critiquing it, but this is just complaining about anything and everything just for the sake of doing it. It makes no sense.

ANYWAY, I’m looking forward to the movie and just got my tickets for opening night, anyone else looking forward to it and seeing these characters interact?

I don't see anything wrong with what she said. Comics while still hugely popular now are still not anywhere as mainstream as film, and will never be. Even many people who do read comics don't always expand beyond the major characters.

Wonder Woman says Hi.

And honestly, between this movie, Black Widow, WW84, possibly New Mutants and Eternals, this year is going to have plenty of female representation.

I'm excited to see Margot as Harley f***ing Quinn again. I'm excited to have Ewan f***ing McGregor in a DC film. I'm excited because this looks f***ing fun!

To be fair, the actors and filmmakers aren't making it easy. They're going so far out of their way to make this an socio-political statement instead of focusing on the movie itself.
If you and others here are looking forward to this, that's cool but get upset over those who do have legit concerns or questions whatever questionable moves made BTS for this.

No they are not as popular, yet that could have been an opening for her to shine the light on what was source for the movie. Or to get the comics into some new fans hands. Ah well.

I have been watching the new animated series on the dc universe. I do like that series. very adult and off the wall. I hope the movie can be something like that.

I just don’t really see that. Her quote doesn’t seem like a “socio-political” statement, more so just truthful. This film will introduce these characters to a much wider audience than the comic books because not many people really read the comic book honestly. At least with everyone I’ve talked to, they aren’t aware who these other characters are beside Harley Quinn so this movie will introduce these characters to them in that way. Yes, comic book readers obviously know who they are already, but it really seems that the general audiences are unaware who they are because they aren’t well versed in comics like many of us here. It seems to me that Margot really wants to help introduce these characters to a wider audience and that’s able to be accomplished with this film, and she knows that. I really just think she’s doing a good thing to help spread more awareness on who these characters are which in turn may steer people to the comics to read more about them. Obviously, Harley is being heavily marketed for the film but without her, this film would be a really hard sell because that character brings in audiences so it makes sense she’s the face of it. I think it’s a smart move where she’s bringing in a wider audience with Quinn’s appeal which will then in then bring more awareness to these other characters.

the dc universe website had alot of info about the characters.. which is think is very cool for people unfamiliar with the characters. I think both the animated series original and the arkham games have done a great job with the character of Harley.

having said that.. I think Catwoman is still my favorite.

That wasn't what I was referring to. Me and Wynn seldom see eye to eye on anything around here but he's made a solid point. You can introduce them via the source material and from what I've read about the material, the movie doesn't look to even resemble that. Her comments does come off as dismissive.
BTW, Iron Man was a hard sell and look how that turned out.
As for the "socio-political" part, wasn't referring to that particular quote but others that she's made but let's not go there and get this thread locked before the movie even opens.

Yes that is all I meant by disappointing. It's good for kids to read and comic books are a good medium for younger kids to start at. It would have been nice for her to encourage that, but her comment does come off as dismissive of comics even if she didn't mean for it to.
