I caught the first one flipping through channels one day...

At the end all I could think of was - 'This is considered a great film???'. Just another DC CGI pukefest IMHO.

Joker great film, yes. Wonder Woman, not so much.

Right? We KNOW how well things turn out when you have a PLAN and shoot films all at once or very close to each other. Like Lord of the Rings. Hate to bring it up but a good example of how things turn out very iffy when you DONT plan things out and shoot films with consustency is the Star Wars sequels.

Glad Patty got this right. Im pumped for more WW!

Wouldn’t she be busy with Rogue Squadron?

She had Cleopatra also. Seems like it will depend on if they want to wait for her.

After watching WB sit on her movie for over a year, then finally release it on HBO Max and theaters the same day, she may be looking for greener pastures.

NYT: Patty Jenkins on ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and the Future of Theaters

Quote:
You’re directing the “Star Wars” movie “Rogue Squadron” next. After that, do you still plan to direct a third “Wonder Woman” film?

We’ll see what happens. I really don’t know. I know that I’d love to do the third one if the circumstances were right and there was still a theatrical model possible. I don’t know that I would if there wasn’t.

Yeah at this point I don't see a way Patty comes back to direct WW3. She has SW and Cleopatra coming up. I assume WB will want to release WW3 sometime before like 2027 lol

In the current production schedule the absolute earliest WW3 could come out is 2024. That's an eternity from now considering the current circumstances of the theatrical box office.

Cleopatra isn't dated yet, dunno if it has a script even. I frankly think it might get stuck in development hell and get shelved. It was meant to be a staring role for Angelina Jolie for the longest time and it seems like she has aged out of that role now. Who knows how long it will take for them to crack the Patty/Gal version.

Rogue Squadron is coming out in December 2023.

I think Wonder Woman could presumably come out in December 2024 if not summer 2025.

So yes, you would be looking at about a 4-5 year gap between WW2 and WW3 compared to 3 years between WW1 and WW2.

I honestly think anything more than 3 years might be unacceptable to WB. So yeah, probably Patty won't be doing WW3.

But it is next to impossible to find a female director for a big blockbuster film. So maybe WB will stick by Patty after all.

Do they really require a woman to direct WW3? I would hope we would be past that. Just get someone who has a story to tell, whether that's a man or woman.

Women can direct men, and men can direct women. The problem is that women aren't directing enough films overall, not that women aren't directing enough films starring women.

Give WW3 to Kathryn Bigelow. Problem solved.

Just because she's a woman does not mean Bigelow is interested in making a WW film.

[QUOTE=captveg;18447743]Do they really require a woman to direct WW3? /QUOTE]

It isn't. But this is a PR scandal waiting to happen.

A film about Wonder Woman with 2 films directed by a woman. I think if the hired a male director for the 3rd, there will definitely be a hue and cry.

And can't lie - I do think it is a bit more meaningful to have a woman direct Wonder Woman.

I think it's a policy for studios to hire diverse filmmakers for certain films, in order to create more job opportunities. That's probably why. Still, if you're going to hire Kathryn Bigelow to do a comic book movie, make sure it doesn't feel like sloppy-seconds.

I will say this about women filmmakers though, they seem more focused. I don't mean to generalize, but it's a consistency I noticed. That's not a bad thing.

She is currently unemployed and has been for the last 2 years. I'm sure she would jump at the chance to make WW3.
