Watched Hellbenders again today and found it funnier than the first time I watched it. The 3D seemed stronger than I remember it. It's mostly indoors so it doesn't get those cinematic shots but I was surprised at how often I noticed things in front of the screen. It pulls you in real close without a bunch of strong pop-outs. Clancy Brown stars.

Really? I thought the 3D was about the best I've seen out. Incredibly immersive. Just gorgeous.

It did have great depth and a great picture, but I guess I’m in love with the in your face pop outs.

Default In the Heart of the Sea

I was about ready to give up on my TK800 for 3D but in a last ditch effort, I purchased the actual recommended glasses at a pretty penny ($60) and was finally able to watch In the Heart of the Sea without losing sync. And what a watch it was, glorious near constant popping out. Not the sort that would poke your eye out but almost every minute had something. The last time I watched it was on my TV and I wasn't nearly as impressed. When you use a truly large screen, you notice pop-outs that you would normally dismiss because they hit the edges of the screen.

I don't know why they felt the need to make Owen Chase more heroic than he was, or Captain Pollard more strict than he was. In fact, Owen Chase had talked Pollard into doing what he wanted at most turns as I recall. They also changed Owen Coffin's name to Henry, I suppose in an effort to keep him being confused with Chase. In another change to the actual account they credited Pollard with pulling the short straw when it was really Coffin. My memory may be foggy on this but I don't think the whale was ever described as white either.

Despite the discrepancies, the movie is excellent.

Fun fact. The song "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" by Mountain was dedicated to Owen Coffin. The ride refers to the boats being dragged by the whale after it is harpooned.

I just obtained the 3D version of "Godzilla, King of the Monsters" (UK region-free release, of course) which I had seen last year in 2D in a friend's home theatre. The 3D is terrific but "whisper acting" negates the strength of the DTS Master Audio sountrack! The 2D br is a mess of blue color, hard to distinguish one monster from another--- and even the improved Atmos soundtrack can't correct the poorly-directed "whisper acting" from the cast. (WHO enters in a rage and whispers to the crowd, "Where is my daughter?" and WHO whispers back...never mind!)

So, despite the excellence of the 3D presentation, "Godzilla, KoM" is a huge mess, greatly inferior to the 2014 imperfect "Godzilla" and far from the terrific fun that is "Kong."
Still, I'm looking forward to the big monster mash-up to come when Kong and Godzilla meet.
Just have the actors open their mouths and deliver their lines so we can HEAR them! Or just leave the actors out altogether!

Ordered Need for Speed and Terminator Genisys. Batman v Superman also arrived. Maybe I should order some more as who knows how long the crisis will last. Think I have quite a few titles to watch still plus of course rewatches.

Just came back from a diet soda run and wow, are people really freaking or what. They must have vacuumed out their bomb shelters and stocked them with meat and toilet paper. I'm not going to participate in the hysteria, I left with just soda and peanuts. Okay I admit I did wipe down the cart.

I cannot find my beloved Coke Zero. I posted on Next Door I would trade a roll of toilet paper for a 2L lol.

Anyway, tried watching Mortal Engines 3D and was very unimpressed by it. I made it about 60% through the movie and it was so bad I just decided to go to bed. I may finish it at some point but I doubt it.

Watched Resident Evil Afterlife. Movie was OK, 3D was reference quality. Kinda reminds me of Coronavirus but easier to tell bad guys.

Watched Tomb Raider since it arrived today. Thought it had decent 3d throughout. The plane scene was quite nice. Not sure why this site gave it such a harsh review. Also don't get all the complaints from people here.
