I was watching the Spanish series Elite on Netflix last night, and there's a scene where the kids are in class, and they're all watching Who Can Kill A Child? on their laptops. I found that rather amusing.

A small mistake, I know. Just awkward. But this is the first scene.
They actually meant to say he was one the best in his class. In Spanish the word promoción also refers to one's graduating class in school. I'm going to guess it's the same in German. They just incorrectly assumed it meant the same in English.

That's what I guessed.

Subtitle, as written (Spanish>German>English):
"Rudolph is a handsome young man and I know he's completing his studies at Law School ... being one of the foremost students in his promotion."

How it could've been written:
"Rudolph is a handsome young man. I understand he's finishing up at Oxford ... and he's at the top of his class."

Yes, I like it a lot. I'm watching the second season right now. It's essentially a murder mystery set at a posh private high school, pitting the haves against the have-nots. It's not your typical "teen" series. It definitely pulls no punches.

Nope, it's not. In german "promotion" means the awarding of a doctoral degree.

Just finished An Ideal Place to Kill. Really enjoyed it! Definitely up there with some of my other favorites from Lenzi. Gorgeous transfer and I enjoyed all the extras.

One thing I noticed while watching the English dub was that from 1:08:05 - 1:13:15 it switches over to Italian. I tried searching the thread for any mentions but couldn't find anything so I am assuming this is the same for everyone?

Yes, those scenes were never dubbed.

“promoción“ also means „age group“ in Spanish.

Being a fan of Paul Naschy is really a lot like being a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger films. That's quite an impressive run of good movies. But they aren't all THE TERMINATOR and TOTAL RECALL. Some of them are CONAN THE BARBARIAN.

And some of them, like KINDERGARTEN COP and JINGLE ALL THE WAY, don't exactly fit with the rest. But that doesn't mean they're without merit, even though they may not be as marketable.

As far as I'm concerned, everything Naschy touched is interesting, in some way.

Default This is America! We have laws!!

Since I didn't even read about the film, or the box, the last thing I expected when putting in aswang was a mid-90s regional flick from Wisconsin... Of course, once the dust settles we are left with a delightfully surreal and disturbing film.

Fans of early Cronenberg might find this one worth tracking down as the body-horror, sex, politics, religion and nightmares all collide into an intoxicating and unhinged mix where little unfolds as expected.

Aswang was my first Mondo Macabro purchase. I still have that DVD and watch it from time to time. Creepy, bizarre and with often repulsive FX--I love it.
