It's one thing not to like it or to think other movies released at the time were better; as much as I love Avatar, even I think it was the third-best movie of 2009 at best. But people often go out of their way to shit on it and I just don't get that. (Not aimed at SweetieMan, just generally.) It's still a stunning piece of sci-fantasy filmmaking on just about every level, not just technical, even if its story is derivative of movies that weren't all that great to begin with.
