For anyone who wants to try, I've noticed a bunch of these OOP Lionsgate blu-ray movies keep randomly popping into stock (or at least "temporarily out of stock") on Amazon brand new for good prices (between $9.99-$14.99). Don't get your hopes up TOO high -- I did just get my Cold Mountain blu-ray order cancelled from Amazon just now which stings because I skipped out on a brand new copy that popped up for $17 on Amazon that I didn't get because I thought I'd get it from Amazon. Lesson learned, lol.

Doubt they'll actually happen but having it there in case it does doesn't hurt any. Thus far I've put in for Chasing Amy, Velvet Goldmine, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and Cold Mountain (obviously cancelled). I recommend adding them to a wishlist and checking, along with anything else OOP you may have interest in. I've noticed Amazon getting a lot of OOP stuff in brand new randomly. Sometimes I wonder if they just have this stuff sitting in a corner in a warehouse and they randomly find it and list it...

I couldn't find Chasing Amy at all, put in for order from Australia. Hasn't arrived yet.

As far as Cold Mountain, it seems the German version has a better master than the US possibly. This guy seems to have the best price available for it:

only one left. It will take a while to arrive with Covid. This guy is in Austria but mail seems very slow from there now, but whatever. And forget from German, German post has apparently banned all mail to US from Germany (from Germany you can find even better price, but nobody can ship, Amazon.de doens't work to US and even individual seellers if you try them on ebay all end up quickly cancelling and syaing German post refused to let them ship since package desitination was US). Probably need to be region free to play, don't know, didn't check. Region free since I use PC playback.

Same thing happened to me. I have a feeling the other ones will be cancelled too, but thankfully I ordered used copies for cheap of every movie I ordered except for Chasing Amy and Velvet Goldmine -- because I couldn't find those two for a decent price anywhere lol

I was logging this one after picking it up at a random Walmart (extremely YMMV) and it looks like this one seems to be OOP. No listings on Amazon and not a ton of listings of this blu on eBay either. Target, Walmart and Best Buy are also sold out.

They aren't at the moment, but if you are 4K all 3 cuts rae coming to 4K region free discs in the UK this fall. Pre-orders have begun for the UK, but they won't ship over here at the time. Diabolik and Zavi should have US pre-orders soon.

That’s great but it’s not the same release (I mean in the sense of this is the US one, yes it’s the same content). It’s the Canadian one, distinguished by text on the front of the case. There’s a region free UK one out there as well but I’m posting about the US one as being OOP

Yes in the purest sence it is a USA oop thread, but Canada is the same region so if the content is the same, it may depend.

Importing depends on the individual person's player.

If one person wants to pay a Scalper for a USA edition, and some one else is happy to import, each is free to decide how to spend their own money. I've bought titles from the advise on this thread.

I hate that I had to resort to the Canadian Dogma BD, but they had it for $10 at local store new, and at that point the US was already getting around $40 used. The bilingual text does bug my OCD (and is the only difference), but not enough to think about buying a US copy at this point. I'll probably end up printing a US cover when the shitstorm is over, if I make it through said storm. Not quite the same as importing, but related.

I DO have a 4K Region Free player. I just don't want to pay $100 for a set.

Hey, if that's the way you feel, I can't argue.

I don't like having to pay that much either, but for this film at this point in time, I feel it's worth it. I certainly wouldn't pay that for the existing US BD, although I have been very happy to have owned that for the last 7 years for $10.

I also just don't see Rubinstein making a deal here, and consider it a small miracle he did there. For that reason, I'm getting it and will probably sell my old disc to help offset the cost.

I would have got The Thing steelbook but I already have the 4K remaster steelbook from the UK and I am fine with it till a UHD release happens. Glad I have Max Payne and Training Day on BD because I would be after those now.
