All this resolution talk about things needing to be native 4K is a load of old codswallop if you ask me.

AI learning has improved massively over the years and NVIDIAs DLSS 2.0 is doing incredible things for performance and honestly it's hard to tell sometimes what's upscalled and what's native and sometimes the upscale looks sharper than the native

Maybe we will get a native 540p image supersampled to 4K to let us have the same RT features as the PC version. lol

The benefits IMO far outweigh the negatives. So if a developer wants to sacrifice native resolutions for supersampled ones to improve the FPS that's fine by me.

One of these is native the other isn't which one looks better?

Yeah I'll take that all day long if it allows devs to allocate more resources to framerate.

Cyberpunk 2077 Anime Coming To Netflix

Quote:
Polish game developer CD Projekt Red announced on Thursday that its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game is getting a Netflix Original anime adaptation titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in 2022. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) is directing the anime at Trigger, and Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia) is designing the characters. The game's official YouTube channel began streaming an announcement video.

CD Projekt describes the anime:

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.

CD Projekt describes the original game:

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character's cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.

CD Projekt will release the "open-world, action-adventure story" for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19.

Probably just in time for the release of the next gen version of the game.

I can't believe it's been 8 years since this game was announced.

I get where you're coming from, but these next gen consoles overall are a cut above typical PCs in almost every area for how they work so to finesse them as a better experience will he interesting BUT maybe whatever you're talking about is included in that "PS5 Patch" they already announced.
It's basically simple; for a game that has been delayed a few times like this, the dev team are having enough work cut out for themselves getting the damn thing out the door without having to work on a full-blown next-gen version. The fact that we get the PS5 'mega upgrade' for free (and quite possibly at the same time as the final dlc) is generous from CDPR.

This is such an important game for me though i want to play it the first time around on the best format possible. Seeing as the Nvidia 2080 costs the guts of £700, it's true Next gen date Vs my PC upgrade. Wasn't planning on doing the latter for at least the start of the academic year 2021.

YouTube
At least they stayed true to the "Coming - When it's ready" lol

Thing is, they've largely probably enhanced on that trailer too and evolved it to an even higher level imo from what we saw of that Night City to the really neon drenched and overall really heightened design language of the City scape in 2020.

If i had to guess, this is the trick we'll see them use to make 4K content into 8K output on consoles. Personally i think the results are astonishing for the amount of system power required to achieve such results but i truly do believe we are still going to head towards a highly polished native 4K and that's probably the sweet spot for a bit but as i said before, i'm not a luddite. There's a long way yet to go till we reach peak photorealistic quality as a possible art style for games. We get better and better, the increases are getting more incremental but hardware power required increases however i think we're still a good 15-20 years away from the tech. At least coming to consoles. PCs maybe get close within 15 years.

@TheWildWhelk i think both AMD & Nvidia have some interesting reveals to come and make all those salty PC players feel superior again and personally i'm happy. Means consoles will have that tech filter down quicker for Pro or PS6. The only thing is that if i was building a PC, i don't think the components discount down enough. The pricing for PC hardwares been a bit ridiculous at the top end.

For the comparison of the two screen shots, 1080p and 4K both look great IMO.
As far as a comparison of a PS4 vs PS5 version of the game, I bet that will be subtle too except for the frame rate mostly. This game looks like PS5 material.

For the first experience playing, it's a choice of playing Cyberpunk made for a weaker console or a version made for a new, stronger console.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to be patient to buy it for the PS5 version, but I totally understand why gamers would want to buy it now for PS4 and get to play on the PS5 with the PS4 game update. I am concerned the game will feel spoiled by time it gets to the PS5 as my main concern.

So they're saying if you buy it now, you'll get the PS4 game, the PS4 update, and then get a code to get the PS5 digital game for free? That's really generous of them if true. I bet there's a time frame to do it before the offer expires.

My understanding is buy the PS4 version, you have access to that base game and Pro enhancements if using a PS4 Pro but if you then play on PS5, there's an additional performance boost to take it even further and the PS5 patch is probably equivalent to a high end PC. However, the PS5 specific version will be fully optimised for next gen consoles whereby i'd imagine they rejig the loading screens etc. or so on and maybe for PS5 leverage the audio chip and so on even more. They're going to be a cut above the PC version even imo with the tweaks.

Playing it on PS5 with the PS4 version patched up to PS5 may even be a different experience to the PS5 specific version and i personally feel that will make it a more fresh experience when i go back to play it again. So i'm 100% set on jumping in at launch if all things work out.

I've had this game preordered since it was 1st available. The thing you have to remember is that most of us had fully intended on playing this on our PS4 on the original release date of 16 April. I think that the game looks amazing as it is. Being able to play it on the PS5 (if I'm able to pick one up at launch) is going to be icing on the cake.

After playing Ghost of Tsushima next month, I really hope Sony & MS have their pre-orders for their Systems/Accessories at the end of the month.

I’ve been subbed to Cyberpunk 2077’s official channel around 5 years ago. Time flys. Definitely looking forward to the game. It might be my first PS5 game download.

But the games developers have been raving about how easy it is to develop for the PS5, even easier than the Xbox 2, and yet we are still going to get a moderate upgrade to the regular version of CP 2077 in the manner of Far Cry 5 which had a 10 gig environmental graphics patch but still fell way short of the PC version's Ultra High settings!

There's a significant gap though between a PS4 Pro GPU and a 2080 Ti though and you couldn't get the same Ultra level graphics. However on a PS5 the gap is much closer so we should see a PS5 patch on Cyberpunk 2077 close the gap more than ever HOWEVER the PC specs are still held back in the sense that you may have a PC that's running a HDD not an SSD or NVMe. Also, not to mention the PC version has to run multiple configurations so the only difference they could make is to top it out for the best hardware around release.

The PS5/Series X versions however are probably going to have a new design set up optimised specifically for the hardware having an NVMe. I really do think people aren't appreciating that CDPR are going to put a LOT of work into that next gen upgrade. Likely to also coincide with maybe some DLC.

This should have been a next gen game from the get go. It feels way too ambitious to be a current gen title.

Yes and no. Its ambitious in scope and the fidelity they want in that, however i think we get the best possible tech pushing titles and that's why i think it's an important release. Also not to mention that this game is designed on "Current gen" design philosophy with loading screens etc. but next gen consoles with exclusive releases will be looking to do away with this and i think CDPR will seriously be looking into that.

Don't stress it. Just enjoy the game on your console of choice and imo, you won't need to feel its held back playing on next gen.

First details that came about the game were a few specifics. One of them mentioned it’s a game that will likely be Cross-gen. The goal was always to have the game ready for current generation.

I’ve been having trouble getting Ghost of Tsushima to be added to my game library. Still not fixed but after another “Restore Licences” run to try & fix it, it gave Cyberpunk 2077 a countdown timer.

144 days, 3 hours, 16 minutes...

Now I see that as a PS5 reminder too. lol
