To each their own. I personally found the rape scene in Straw Dogs much harder to watch than the one in Irréversible

. Straw Dogs is still a great, important film though, and one I would definitely watch again in HD. These films are certainly not for everyone however.

Also, you may have felt sick when watching Irréversible because

[Show spoiler]the soundtrack for the first 20-30 minutes of the film deliberately contains an ultra low-frequency droning sound that can cause nausea

. This is why some people at Cannes walked out before the film had finished.
