Funny the reverse has been true for me, took me about 4 years to hit 1000, nearly 7 years later, I have yet to double again.

I just hit 1,500 in the last week or so. Looks like I'm adding titles at around 30 a month...don't know if that is good or bad

In a lot of ways releases these days seem to be more exciting - more deluxe box sets and the like than there used to be - which is what accounts for it for me.

Started out buying about 300 a year on average, most were replacements for my DVD collecion that I lost to a break in a few years beforehand. Waited until the "format" war was over for HD to upgrade.

Definately have slowed down quite a bit, but find myself buying substantial upgrades in PQ these days for titles, mostly new 4k scans of older or early mastered blu-rays, The UK Arrow version of Heathers would be a good example.

So I am still buying, my collection just isn't showing that fact from a numbers perspective.

Same here I'm replacing Blu-rays with 4K and also upgrading from regular editions to Steelbooks or Digibooks

Not going that far for all discs in my collection, unless there is a substantial PQ upgrade from Blu-ray to 4K, then I can justify the purchase.

Default I Got The Feeling x 1000

Criterion fired off a 'Shopping Is A Feeling' (from True Stories) for today's flash sale, and I got the true feels for my 1000th blu-ray, not only a Criterion, but the Stillman Trilogy with one of my favorite NYC stories, Metropolitan, for this NYC native son...

Currently at 1,764 Blu-Rays and 738 DVDs having just hit 2,502 titles total (I know, the counts don't quite match up on my side count but these are the accurate numbers). Haven't been on here in a while but considering my massive collection, I need to start boasting somewhere. Like many others, I'm definitely starting to run out of room to display it properly but at the same time I'm very proud of how many movies I own. Especially considering out of my massive collection, I only own just under 125 titles on Blu-Ray that I've never watched, which I think is a pretty damn good ratio, and only own a few duplicates here and there (Like Snow White, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and the Back to the Future Trilogy for instance) but beyond that, I'm usually on top of whether or not I already have a particular movie, and if I ever need to know on the go, I have my DVD Profiler app on my phone so I can check. I love upgrading many of my titles from DVD to Blu-Ray, and will almost happily upgrade a particular Blu-Ray to a new edition from the likes of Shout!, Arrow, or Criterion if there is a decent reason to upgrade.

I've been collecting for just over 20 years and I never get tired of it oddly enough.

I'd post pics of my collection but it's so vast it would take about 50 pictures to show it off but you can see my collection under my info. All of the digital copies I have mostly come from my enclosed digital copies that come with what I buy but in general I prefer physical media all the way and will happily continue to collect even if something bad happens.

Oh, and as for that side 4K count, I bought the Charlie Brown Christmas on 4K because the Blu-Ray was remastered hence all of the enclosed Peanuts shows account for that total as well as that Ghostbusters 1 & 2 4K set (I bought that for the new bonus features disc, and it was well worth it) so that's where those 5 come from.

Just thinking about this many Blu-ray disks, you would have enough to set up multiple video rental stores. I thought I had a lot with about 202 movies.

Recent sale purchases between Kino, Indicator, and Imprint have pushed me over the 2,000 threshold. I would never have thought it would be possible, but here I am.

According to my calculations (which could be off), this is the culprit that put me over the mark:

Default How do you Catalogue your collection

Would be interesting to hear how different people have their collections catalogued . Most of mine are 3d's and many are hard to purchase now.
So I bought them as they came out knowing that would happen. Only purchase ones I am really interested in watching special releases, Steelbooks , special packaging, 3d etc. Mine are in 3 Alphabetical sections 3d/4k/regular Bluray. Separated sections for Marvel and Disney .All Photographed and catalogued for Insurance purposes.

Just grabbed Polanski’s Repulsion and Cul-de-sac and also Clueless to get to 1,002.

I’m now in territory I never thought I’d be in.

If you have 1,000+ movies, you’re either over-valuing size or your standards for what constitutes a good movie are too low. Quality over quantity IMO.
