I know the advert claims that each recording is as good as the first, but in terms of archiving, I found that their tapes were very poor and prone to drop-outs on recordings that were barely a couple of years old, even on higher grade tapes. However, I had lots of TDK and Sony tapes and never really had any problems with these, even on recordings made more than a decade ago. However despite that, it's still a great TV ad though.

From memory I used both Scotch and TDK, but I think my 'goto' brands were Maxell and Memorex as they were often the best combo of price vs quality.

Of course none of the others made such memorable ads though.....
