Default anyone have problems w/ panny plasma remotes?

I bought my panny plasma in July and the batteries in the remote lasted about 5-6 months. Now they are lasting 2 weeks and it is getting ridiculous. Does anyone else have an issue w/ the remote eating batteries? The last batteries where brand new and only lasted 2 weeks before they started to die. The power button wont work but once it is on it will change channel and do the volume, but other buttons like the "input" one needs to be pressed 3-4 times before it works. Also the "ok" button doesn't work. I know it is the batteries because this is what it has been doing but once they are replaced all buttons work properly for a short time.

Does this sound like it might be a defective remote (or do they all eat batt. this quickly) and does anyone know if this is covered by warrenty as the tv is not yet a yr. old? hope my new '09 model doesn't go through batteries this quickly
