Looks like the £6.99 deal may be ending soon at HMV.

There's a few titles that are now £8.99 - £17.99: Rashomon, Atoll K and Nosferatu - to name three.

I will be signing up with the BFI store directly, in an effort to stop having to use amazon now that they have raised their shipping charges to 7.49 for one DVD (but not boxes!).
Question: does the BFI issue discount codes once in a while? I noticed they seem to remove UK VAT however their shipping is quite high.

Zavvi's US store has BFI titles at reasonable prices (YMMV) including shipping. I got Cry of the City from them.

Can someone tell me how much the blu ray boxset Alan Clarke Dissent and disruption at the BBC was when it came out?

The prices on eBay for it are a tad high!

The cheapest it went down to is £50.

I paid £120 for a new copy on eBay in the aftermarket after waiting maybe half a year to find the right price, so you may still be able to get a good deal. It’s a big set with a big book FWIW.

I think I paid £70 odd but it did go as low as £50 on Zavvi..maybe even less.

There’s one currently being bid on. If you can get it for £140 or less I’d say that’s a great price in the after market. I paid £230 for Late Mizoguchi which is a pretty good price compared to the current going rate but still hard to swallow compared to it’s original price (£59.99 I believe). Anyway here’s the link -

Same! A FOMO purchase that I’d been putting off and absolutely have no regrets about now. Great set!

Not that I am aware of.
They do have promotions such as 2 fers on Criterion during the year.

Only regular discount is if you are a BFI member you get a discount. If you are going to buy lots from them worth considering. BFI membership was c£40pa but that gets you at least 10% off.

Not been to the BFI Shop in the NFT on the South Bank London with my friend who is a Champion BFI member but think it may have been a 20% discount there.

Thank you! I clocked that on ebay last night, i'll keep an eye on it.

Yeah the prices for the late Mizoguchi on ebay are hillarious considering as you say it was £60 when it first came out!

I checked my Amazon order & I knew I'd bought it with Christmas money as a week later, on the 11th, I'd bought The Herschell Gordon Lewis Feast collection, for £92.99, with more of the same money.

It's actually 15% off but you have to have the card with you when you want to get money off etc.

The membership thing is great as you get early access to tickets for the London Film Festival among other things.

Thank you, indeed I saw a 15 % reduction for members and that it cost 37£ or something on their site. Indeed only worth if you buy enough, and i don't think I will. They did give me a welcome 10% my first order, so I will see.

I remember quickly popping in the store ages ago, I wish I had looked around better, it was more than 10 years ago.

because BFI Store pricing is quite high, it is usually a good place to go to find items that are just about to go OPP. And with the discounts, you can at least get some discount rather than having inflated ebay prices the week later.

Picked it up for £44.54 from Zavvi back in November 2018. Might have had a £5 off voucher to bring it down to that.

I'll need to take the cellophane off and give a spin one of these days...

I got it for £40.49 in early December 2019, and too have it in the cellophane ready to unseal one day when I am feeling up to it. Beautiful set and a bargain at that price! I must've got one of the last cheap Zavvi copies left.
