National Lampoon is a brand name.

Think of it as more like National Lampoon presents...

If you look up all of those titles on IMDb, you get this:

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is called "Psycho"
John Carpenter's Halloween is titled "Halloween"
But National Lampoon's Animal House is titled "National Lampoon's Animal House"

In casual conversation, of course, what you say holds true. But if someone is asking for the legal name in a forum such as this, the IMDb title is probably the safer bet.
