Blu-ray and Archival

So I've been a Blu-Ray owner and fan for a while. Had a PS3 for a while and am now thinking of getting a burner. NewEgg has some good deals on burners and my production company is looking for a good media for archival. We are starting an archival system will have video/audio archived on three sources to assure that the media survives. We have hard drives as our most accessible and primary storage source. We were hoping that Blu-Ray would be the secondary. With 50 gigs on DL discs that's a nice amount of storage. The tertiary source is analog i.e. original source motion picture footage and 1" tape reels etc.

What I'm concerned about is working with the best blank media for archival. For example, one can't just use any brand of CD-R for archiving, there are CD-Rs optimized for archival. The same is true for DVD-Rs. I know that Sony IS Blu-Ray in many ways but are their blanks optimized for consumer use only? Is there a brand or variety that is particularly designed for longevity? Would Sony be the best choice in blank media?
