I'm just stunned at how many people don't get that some people just have no interest in 4K and never will. My 1080p Plasma TV from 2007 still works like new and has an anti-glare screen. No need to upgrade.

Fact is that DVD still outsells 4K and Blu-ray discs combined.
I completely understand that 4K discs have not had a good roll out. The industry thought that they would do so much better than sales have been. Your average person doesn't care about 4K or even 1080p but were in a steelbook forum. I understand not wanting to spend money on a new TV but I guess I figured since collecting steelbooks is such an expensive hobby I figured most collectors who love movies that much would find a way to upgrade. I guess I also assumed most collectors had a region free Blu-ray player as well, mines gotta be close to 10 years old.

I gave my old Pioneer Elite Kuro to my brother and that is the Cadillac of 1080p TV's. It looks great but not better than my new 4K OLED. That 1080p Plasma isn't going to last forever either so I hope your buying 4K + Blu-ray steelbooks because even though you can't use them right now you will be glad you did in a year or two when you get a 4K set. Even if your not interested in 4K the price difference isn't much right now so unless I'm missing something your next TV will be 4K.
