Ok. One thing I'm curious about is that some of the screenshots for Mad Max don't look as post-apocalyptic as I thought the world would be. I guess with Fury Road being the 4th film the world just got worse and worse with each subsequent movie.

Mad Max 1 isn't really a post apocalyptic movie, it's more of a societal breakdown. The post apocalyptic stuff is more from 2 onwards.

Looking like the UK isn't getting the two breakout films Road Warrior and Thunderdome. Anyone know if so? Don't want another repeat buy of 4, and find Mad Max and Thunderdome weak.

I think the original is the most emotionally powerful of the three (MM2 is very, very close). I can understand Thunderdome being weak. The villains are soft, the humour infantile and the kids sink the film. A great pity. |

Since (in the UK at least) they are making everyone who wants the original 3 buy Fury Road again it shouldn’t be too much to ask for them to include a UHD of the Black and Chrome. Logan has the noir version on UHD |

Any chance the 4k version of Fury Road is a new master? (or whatever the right term is)... The review here says all the flames look very cartoonish on the 4k version.... and the videos on youtube show it too.... now, before you all crucify me for using a youtube video as reference for an UHD disc with HDR and all that.... the same thing happened with the original 4k disc of BvS... they fixed it on the Remaster....so again...any chance they fixed it for this release? Or is it just a bad review and the flames don't actually look like that at all?

I picked up the Kino release of Mad Max last year, but have yet to watch it. More than likely I will stick it up on eBay since it has the slipcover and get the anthology set, just would like to see some interior packaging photos first. I can't imagine it's going to sell out and perhaps may even be cheaper come Black Friday so resisting the pre-order option just yet.
I loved Road Warrior, seeing it in the theaters when it first came out and only 11 years old I was glued to the screen. Thunderdome wasn't a bad film, but of the three originals, it ranks as my least favorite. Fury Road was great visually and enjoyable but I felt it would have made for a better second film looking at it from the reboot angle, Max was more of a secondary character if anything and by all account the next one won't even have Max in it at all. |

The only reason why it was fixed was because of Zack Synder. He was watching the movie during a streaming event and noticed the colors were off. He probably leveraged his position with doing the Synder cut to get BVS regraded. So who knows if WB would have done the regrade if it wasn't for Zack.
Regrading/remastering is still pretty rare. I only know of the 3(?) (Halloween, BVS and Labyrinth). 2 were done by forces outside of the studio like Shout/Zack or Sony just deciding to upgrade (marginally?) so they can sell more copies. There still hasn't been a true regrade/remaster from a studio that decided their first offering was horrible. There are a few earlier 4Ks who could benefit from a revisit. Though I doubt any studio is willing to pony up the money to redo old releases unless someone pressures them or another label picks it up. Quote:
