It's how the cruddy USPS and FedEx and USPS handlers treat these things. They take hard hits and that's enough to pop them off the hubs. Plus not all hubs do such a great job of keeping the discs on in the first place.

Not saying one is better than the other, but there is a stark difference when comparing the two. SF looks more like an SDR presentation with subtle hints of HDR scattered throughout. The LG is straight HDR in your face almost the whole time.

Yes, the LIONSGATE looks more like 4k but with no color. So screw that stick with what looks like it looked at the theater in 1978.

FINALLY an Atmos track that keeps Carpenter's foreboding mood music prominent even improves upon it as it ought to be! Immediately noticed the more intense color on the pumpkin at around 3:20. Gonna speculate this Atmos was done right because there was already an existing 7.1 audio to work with and reference that was also done well. Haven't noticed the compression yet and don't want to... enjoying this too much! So far the only negative is how many of these got banged up and scratched from crappy shipping.

These new flexible Blu-ray cases are weirdly fragile. Received the first 4 today, and the shipping box was dented along one whole edge. All 4 slipboxes also are dented in the same spot, and all 4 cases are shattered in that same spot as well… just unbelievable. Sending all 4 back and waiting on stock on certain titles to come back so I can reorder.

I got screwed on H4. It came with 2 UHD discs, no blu-ray at all. Shout Factory is referring me to Amazon. Amazon is only offering a refund. No exchange at all. Meaning I would get my money back with the option of purchasing it again later on when the price is higher.

No. In this case it's Shout. The discs would not stay on the hubs no matter what I did. Ended up switching cases.

What do the cases look like?

I end up buying the thick cases second hand off eBay a lot of times to transplant other movies into that previously had crappy cases, it gets expensive, but there are many sellers with authentic cases at reasonable prices, new or not they are usually second hand. Every 6 months or so I'll count up how many I need and just buy some premium Vivas. My old ones might as well be in a landfill I have an entire box of the cutout cases doing nothing, they are useless. Inserts get damaged SO easy in them, I've never really been worried about the discs scratching, but the center spindle is usually terrible. This is EXACTLY why these companies do this because they save so much money.

I prefer the way the film looks on the new 4K release. Brighter than the Lionsgate(4K) release but not as yellow/red as the 35th BR.

I was noticing some of the same similarities while comparing the discs last night. I appears the Shout disc has some DNR and while both 4K discs are miles ahead of their Blu-ray counterparts with the 2021 Shout Blu-ray being by far the best the HDR on both 4K discs makes for a much improved viewing experience. The LG disc does seem to hold an edge though where the HDR presentation is simply more impactful. Also there really is nothing wrong with the colors on the LG disc. The color is clearly there. The LG disc does appear darker than the Shout which appears brighter. Those saying the Shout disc is miles ahead of the Lionsgate 4k version are delusional. This is an A- vs. B+ difference. The LG disc more than holds it's own vs. the new shout disc IMO being a bit sharper with better HDR than the Shout version. The Shout disc has extras galore, a much better Blu-ray presentation on the new BD-50 compared the BD included in the Lionsgate disc so holds an edge due to the overall package. Lastly I am a big fan of caps-a-holic.com I am sorry though caps are not accurate, something definitely went wrong in the HDR to SDR conversion. The LG disc looks almost drained of all color. In reality it looks nothing like that when playing the disc.

Just got done watching the new disc with my daughter. Amazing presentation, the color is back and I must admit i was impressed with the atmos track. Much better than the LG disc imo. Will watch H2018 Saturday and Halloween Kills next Saturday. Also the disc had no trouble playing on my Oppo 203.

I've ordered parts 1,2 and 4, but only need part 1 to arrive this week so that I can start the marathon of these 3 next week.

I don't plan on showing her parts 2 and 4 until after we see ENDS next year.
