Default dvi>vga or dvi>hdmi???

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, hopefully it is...
We are wanting to get a 32" 720p hdtv to use as a display board, have powerpoint presentations showing on it with different pictures and text throughout the day behind our receptionist. The computer we have dedicated for this only has a free DVI port, I have been looking at lcd hdtvs and it looks like the only pc ports they have are VGA, does anyone know if its better to go DVI>VGA or DVI>HDMI ?

My only experience with this type of connection was helping a friend in the past hook up their laptop to their hdtv via VGA to VGA and they couldn't get the resolution high enough and the image didn't fill the screen so hopefully I can avoid this as well.
